Several people listed as part of the Veterans for Trump coalition formed by Donald Trump following his incendiary comments about John McCains war record have denied they are part of the group, the Guardian has learned.
Trumps campaign announced the formation of the New Hampshire-based group in response to criticism of the business moguls labelling of McCain, who spent five and a half years in a North Vietnamese jail, where he was tortured, as not a war hero.
A number of people were named as members of Veterans for Trump on Trumps election website. These veterans have pledged their support to Mr Trump in the primary, and they will be advocating for him, a press release said.
But when the Guardian contacted several claimed Veterans for Trump members on Friday, three said they had never heard of the organisation and had not signed up as members.
I dont know anything about it, said Ernie Fusi, an 88-year-old second world war veteran from Atkinson, New Hampshire. His name was among 51 Veterans for Trump whose details were sent out to the media and listed on Trumps website.

Things that make one go hmmm.
That is odd. Maybe they forgot?
He just makes it up as he goes.
And the gleeful media laps it up and regurgitates it, so that the rubes will lap it up.
At every single venue where Trump is/was scheduled to speak, he is met with standing room only crowds......no one paid them to be there.
The Guardian supposedly finds 2 of the 51 who signed on.....
either these men are conveniently forgetting this......or have been ‘helped’ to forget it
The Trump folks say these men were signed on......the Trump team is not slipshod or sloppy in their mission for Donald Trump.
Sounds like the Guardian along with all the other media....is feeling a bit desperate to discredit Trump?
Maybe a family member signed them up. Or someone who was playing a sick joke on them??? I believe their names were there, and Trump didn’t sign their names on his own.

Who are you calling a ‘rube’..?
You need a primer on narcissism.
Trump will tell you how “amazing” you are because you fawn over him and all his money and his pronouncements. But the second you lose your ardor for him, or question him, your usefulness to him is over and he will turn on a dime and hit out at you and demand that everyone who wants to bask in his great light, must turn against you too.
I hope they’re telling the truth. Because if they’re not, Trump is going to produce the evidence to show they’re lying. He always does that.
Who are you calling a RUBE?
Funny that you should bring that up...
Donald Trump paid actors to attend presidential launch, says Hollywood Reporter
If the shoe fits, wear it.
You do know Trump has a habit of producing evidence that shows when people are lying? I only hope these vets are telling the truth and no just running for the high ground because Trump will be all over this. So why don’t we wait a minute before calling people ‘rubes’?
Trump often makes things up to project a flattering image of himself, to state otherwise is to be uninformed.
Read the article. The Trump campaign said it has WRITTEN confirmation of everyone who signed up. I wonder if some people on this forum even bother to read articles before stating their opinions???
So? He created some jobs for out-of-work actors. A lot of politicians hire rent-a-mobs. Who cares?
I think someones wife is a walker supporter. Her comments to you really make you want to support Walker now doesn’t it?
Maybe they contacted the wrong people. I share my first and last name with half a dozen people in my city alone. A google search pulls up millions.
LOL...Thanks
