Thompson was followed by Doyle, possibly having made the classical technocrat mistake of thinking that 'cutting off the head' is sufficient. I think Walker did the right thing in going after the union perks and ROW. That cuts off the money from the bottom up but I doubt that was within Thompson's reach at the time. Walker could do it now without consequence. So it looks like the TEA Party really did have long term benefits for Wisconsin.
I take it Wisconsin has term limits for the governor?

To Carrie-Okie: No term limits as far as I know. I think Thompson was into his 4th term when he left for DC.
