They are glad-handing actors, some with convincing public speaking ability, whose only goal is to get elected, stay elected and feather their nest. That's it. They have little knowledge in the things we would want our leaders to know about - economics, finance, foreign policy, rule of law, the Constitution.

And the voting public doesn't demand any of these things from them. All they want these days is someone "cool" and "hip" who gives them stuff.

We are so hosed.
