My husband, the late Dr.O, was classmate and a lifelong friend of McCain. They were both sworn into the USNA when they were mere lads at the age of 17. I likely know a whole lot of inside information that I will NEVER share, because my husband told me all of that between "just us."

I can attest that my husband faithfully went to Mass everyday to pray for McCain. His prayers were answered! I remember that he broke down and cried on the day that the POW's were released. I'm certain his tears were for John.
