The Cuban missile crisis was a year or so before I went into the service and was certainly on everyone’s mind, actually more so than the embryonic Vietnam war were the brunt was falling on “advisors” and Green Berets (usually the same thing).
So, yes, I’m very offended by this particular embassy opening.
I won’t paint you one way or the other, but what did you think of JFK at the time? Just curious.
