We WERE TELLING THE True about John Kerry’s fake Purple Heart claims as well as about his ties to radical, pro-Hanoi organizations.
I was one of 4 writers/coordinators/computer programs who put the book “Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry”, Regnery, 2004, along editors/coordinators/writers John E. O’Neill and Jerome R. Corsi, PhD, with the invaluable Scott Swett (his father is a Vietnam war bomber veteran) on the computers.
The book was a joint contributing effort of over 260 Swift Boat veterans, other Vietnam veterans, with Jerry and myself as journalists (I was a MACV-accredited journalist in SVN and Cambodia in the Fall, 1970).
Until I got a call from a 1st Marine Division veteran old friend from “Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace”, formed by O’Neill and others, I hadn’t seen John for many years. I was asked to help do research on Kerry and his Hanoi Lobby activities from meeting the VC/NLF/No. Vietnamese in Paris at least twice, to his involvement in the increasingly radical Vietnam Veterans Against the War in Vietnam.
Kerry’s senior commanders in Operations Sealord and Market-Time as well as related Special Forces Operations officers supporting the Swift Boat operations in the Delta, all contributed information to the book, as did hundreds of Swifties, including some who served with Kerry.
We exposed the three false narrative stories that Kerry gave to the military in order to get Three Purple Hearts and a one-way trip ticket home (after only 4-5 months of in-country service). Grenade accident due to stupidity; possible ricochet from his own M-79 grenade launcher when he hit is own boat’s railing while firing at the enemy; and the non-existent mine explosion on the Bay Hap River).
What I write is not an attempt to downplay the legitimate combat actions that Kerry participated in, but he always put himself out there first as the leader, the hero, the bravest of them all, which was not the truth.
As the late country singer/comedian Johnny Standley said in his song, “It’s in the book”, our book, if you want the true, whole story about Kerry’s self-serving, backstabbing, and possibly illegal activities (re the write-up of his Silver Star recommendation).
To this day, Kerry has NOT released all his military records to the public as he promised, including any records as to why he got his official Navy (and Reserve) discharge years later during Pres. Carter’s general amnesty program.
What is he hiding?
Nor has any major point of “fact” we published ever been discredited, disproved, or even significantly challenged. We have been smeared by the NY Times, ignored by the Wash. Post (they even censored one of their reporters who did a good follow-up on the Bay Hap River operation/lie by Kerry, and then plans to continue on. Never allowed to do it), and other publications of the Mainstream Media.
That is what we asked and attempted to reveal with the research we did from June - August, 2004. Additional information on Kerry’s behavior and misbehavior was published a few years after our book by Scott Swett and Tim Ziegler, entitled “To Set The Record Straight”.
It contained additional research that Scott, myself and Command John Campbell (aided by his fantastic wife Mary) and a few others were able to find in the Naval Historical Center in DC, among other places.
The full story of John F. Kerry not only in Vietnam but in his support of the Marxist Sandinistas in Nicaragua in the 1980’s, and his abandonment of our POWS/MIAS (along with John McCain), in the 1994-95 agreements for mutual diplomatic ties with Hanoi, is out there for further research.
Also his hiring of a discredited Hanoi propagandist, an unstable informer, and a disreputable private investigator protecting the Sandinistas while attacking the freedom-fighters fighting the communists in Nicaragua, are worth looking into.
Kerry was, and is, a politician who has put his political ambitions about the national security of our country, and yet he gets to be Secy of State under Obama, who collectively, have sold out Iraq to Iran and parts of Iraq to ISIS. He has also sold out both the US and Israel, as well as much of the more moderate Middle Eastern countries to Iranian blackmail, hegemony and terrorism. He is, in other words, still doing what he did to the South Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians, betraying them to the enemy.
