California GOP worries Donald Trump’s trash talk could ruin its image
Tuscaloosa News/LA Times ^ | July 19 2015 | LA Times

As he intended, Donald Trump has hit a nerve.

“We’ve got 15 to 16 very serious people running for president — and one clown,” said Shawn Steel, California’s representative to the Republican National Committee, the GOP’s organizing body. “Trump is a pig, and he’s coming in upsetting every cart he can find, throwing dishes off the table.”

“Intolerable and inexcusable,” declared the state Assembly Republican leader, Kristin Olsen of Modesto. “Somebody who has never been active in the party and is looking for his 15 minutes of fame.”

The derision sounds personal because it is.

For years, California Republicans have tried to change their party’s image, to invite everyone into the pool — especially Latinos, whose enmity arose after a 1994 GOP effort to block immigrants from state services. And now, the architecturally coiffed, anger-venting Trump has cannonballed in, disrupting the presidential race with factually incorrect and caustic criticisms of immigrants from Mexico.

We live in a communist state and the Republicans are feckless.

While I have a deep appreciation and respect for all those who serve, and have served our nation, I’m certainly not going to browbeat anyone who chose a different path. Look at Juan McCain and John Kerry. They both served, and as far as I’m concerned, were traitors. So, what is your point? A person can support our military without having served in it. And, I believe that Donald Trump does support our military and wants it strong again.

Trump says he wants to make America great again.

Destroying the GOP is probably a necessary step.

“California GOP worries Donald Trump’s trash talk could ruin its image.”

The image of the California GOP is one of weakness, corruption, and uselessness. They earned the image.

It’s funny. All that CA GOP “outreach” towards illegals, feminists, blacks, and homos have earned it permanent minority status. But yet they have the nerve to criticize Trump for somehow ruining a political party that holds no power.

“Look at Juan McCain and John Kerry. They both served, and as far as I’m concerned, were traitors.”

Everything you said was right on point. And it would not matter if McCain were actually a real war hero, it has nothing to do with serving as a legislator. John Glenn went into space, but he was a terrible legislator. So these guys who wrap themselves in the flag for political purposes disgrace their former service by so doing. People recognize real heroes, they don't need to be told to “look at me!” And you can't trade on your exemplary military service if you crapped on your country after the fact. Col Allan West was a real soldier, and he was a real legislator. McCain was neither in my opinion.

The RINOs/GOPee are all twisted in knots. I don't know why but the first statement reminds me so much of what the Corleone family traitor, Tessio says when he finds out Michael Corleone won't be able to go with him. He said it would mess up all his arrangements.

Trump is upsetting all their arrangements. In this case, all the arrangements these RINOs have made to assassinate conservatives so that only loyal establishment types are left running. I hope he destroys all their plans.

And then there is this:

"... [Trump is] disrupting the presidential race with factually incorrect and caustic criticisms of immigrants from Mexico."

The above statement from the article is factually incorrect. Trump did not criticize "immigrants" from Mexico. The legal immigrants know this. He criticized illegal invaders sent by Mexico. Kind of difficult to take them seriously when they can't even keep their own facts straight.

This is where these naysayers show their ignorance. Trump made a distinction between legals and illegals. They can’t seem to get that through their stupid, uneducated heads. They take MSM talking points, without doing their research and run with it. No wonder this country is in such deep trouble.

Ruin their image?

McCain, Mitch, Boehner, and Rove should have already done that.

I respect your point and agree but I’d like to get an answer from ‘familyop’.

His/her point might be different than yours. I don’t think you meant to answer for him/her but were expressing your own opinion..

I think they know that’s wrong and are deliberately lying.

The GOP has become a water carrier for the communist Progressives.

Most of them deserve to decorate lamp posts
along with the self-declared Progressives.

I think laplata is MIA. No, I wasn’t attempting to answer the question, but stating my own opinion. I probably should have directed my post to him/her.

How many times do they use “immigrant” facetiously in the article?

I thought the last California GOP died out in the late 1970s.
