The look of hatred and horror is telling.
Or hand them a prayer card. LOL
It is a non-violent push-back that they will understand as a gesture of contempt.
Many years ago circa 2000 (not sure if it was pre or post 911), I was in a check out line of a large store and noticed a hefty Somali checker several aisles down. I was facing in the direction of her line, wearing a sweatshirt with an Israeli flag patch on the front. Just a regular patch, about 3" across.
This woman caught one look at that patch and zeroed in on me with a stink eye like I was the devil. She kept at it too, while ringing up her own customer, glaring at the patch and then back to glaring at me directly, so I dished it right back. It was as if a switch was flipped in her pea brain to hate hate hate.
Weirdest thing because she was a few aisles down, no accident about her targeted behavior.
I was that close to notifying management of this obvious psycho, but then thought what's the point... they hired this crazy and probably received daily complaints about her anyway, but she was of a protected class.
I was only relieved that I wasn't in her line. She would have likely absconded with my credit card info or smashed items into the bags or worse. Paid close attention there on out to avoid those types of checkers no matter what store I was in. Or else pay cash and don't buy anything fragile.
Kind of fascinating and even satisfying, though, that the mere sight of a Jewish symbol set off the demonic realm, just like that.
