Just a quibble with the post ‘s title: The flag the fellow was flying was the battle flag of Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia, or in its rectangular form the confederate navy jack. The Stars and Bars was the flag of the Confederate States of America from 1861 to 1863. Few today would recognize it.

I wonder what would happen if folks started flying that flag. You could likely wear a sports coat with the true Stars and Bars patch on it to a NAACP convention and attract little notice.
