The reason that the police are interested in this case because a Jewish man was hit by paintballs, is that if he was specifically targeted because of his religion (religious garb), then it becomes a federal Hate Crimes case.
I know it is stupid to raise penalties for a crime that is committed against one group over another set of targets, but that is how the Dems/Libs constructed the laws.

However, in NYC, Jews, esp. Orthodox Jews have been targeted by both black and Moslem extremists for criminal attacks and death.
