If they can master methane hydrate production in the next 10 years — it won’t come to soon for the Japanese.

Sheesh the amount of methane hydrate that’s available just dwarfs everything else.

Of course likely only a fraction of reserves will be recoverable in the first generations.

I’m impressed. I thought methane hydrate production was 20 years off. they make it look like they can start to get volume in 10 years.

Japanese participation in methane hydrate production R&D is like Japanese fuel cell car R&D. Its a matter of national policy. Looks like American companies are leaders in methane hydrate production.

Money talks. Its the money being made available for further R&D that advances the progress already made that’s the most important part of the article.
