I hope it is Cruz, but #2 is Trump right now.

Donald Trump on the Issues:

I’m a conservative on most issues but a liberal on health...
We must have universal healthcare.

In other words by telling private industry what they can charge and how much they can make?

Right. It's like telling them what they can do with baby parts.

I guess you forgot the part about the billions of dollars hospitals and insurance companies already get from the Federal government.

So Trump wants to inject the Federal government even deeper into how they do business?

He is no more conservative at #2 than #1. He’s the same guy in either place.

I’ll tell you what, if I’m wrong and Cruz wins the Republican nomination, I’ll buy a copy of your book, read it thoroughly, and give you an honest review on Amazon. I already checked out your reviews online and had a chuckle about the negative reviews from liberals(don’t you just hate the 1 star reviews from people that probably never even read your book?).

If I’m right and Cruz doesn’t win the nomination, you post a picture of yourself on freerepublic holding up a white board with the caption of my choosing (to be agreed upon).

Deal?

I don’t want Trump to go away or burn out just yet, not until he finishes giving the long neglected conservative issues a noisy and rightful airing.

Maybe this all there is. Maybe Trump has found the conservatives sweet spot on illegals and therefore won’t press on to air out the other urgent and pending conservative issues.

We all understand that each and ALL our candidates eventually have to put us conservatives down for bed, at some point, so that they can go out for an evening and broaden their base.

I always wonder about the degree of tolerance that we panicked conservatives will ever muster in order to let our candidates accomplish that, before we freak out.

Did he say that? Did I say that. It’s called leverage. And it can be used.

I think when the government does it it's called "regulations" and we already have too many.

In the words of Winston Churchill after Rommel was run out of N Africa:

“This is not the end. This is not the beginning of the end. But it is the end of the beginning.”

That’s what this is...the end of the beginning. It’s not the end.

It’s a bet. Frankly, I will be happy with either outcome. I just happen to think I’m right.

And how are the ones working out right now? Are the poor getting free health care in emergency rooms just by showing up? Pretty sure they are.

It’s called reality. In the United States, until they start marching us into the cornfields to shoot us for our opinions, poor people will be getting treated without paying for it. What Trump said was only based on reality.

And how are the ones working out right now?

Very badly and very expensively. And Trump wants to make it worse.

He’ll do best if he just sticks to bashing the stupid positions of the democrats, the latest, of course, being their unwillingness to accept Islamic jihad as the reason for a muslim to murder US military in Chattanooga.

It is something Americans viscerally know is absolute stupidity, and that’s where Trump shines...calling out stupidity.

I’m sure Ronald Reagan had no problem saying conservatives are compassionate.

“Almost exclusively former AND current Romney/Perrybots.”

I resemble that remark! :D

Remember when I was for Perry in the primary? Maybe not, but I was. It was exclusively centered on his border actions and border bluster. I liked both. At the time.

Now today I love Trump pushing the right people overboard and his border bullying sets my heart all a flutter. I can’t help myself. No one else will stand up and do it. I don’t want him to go away. Yet.

I get that he will disappoint juniors, but since this is not our first rodeo, we know very well that all our candidates have to dump us for a time in order to grow their base.

I believe Trump will be just as bodacious and noisy attracting the moderates as he was the conservatives. It will be painful, but it is the rule of running for the nomination. Right? Rita

I like the debate that Trump is bringing. And he has certainly changed the “tone” of this election, for the better. And he may be able to change, maybe. But currently, he has said and continues to say very unconstitutional things, which really bothers me.

“I bet after Obamacare he is not so desireous of any single payer plan.”

See the following post on this thread, #37. Trump has doubled down on his statement regarding unconstitutional single payer plan. And he said it on Saturday, in Phoenix!
