Its not threatening, its just wrong. It is wrong only in that the Romans actually carried out the crucifixion. It was the leaders of the Jews that insisted on the death sentence, making them equally culpable, if not more so.
That is not a disparaging remark about the Jewish people, just a comment on the actual events that took place.
