HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, today released the following statement regarding Gov. Scott Walker’s entry into the 2016 GOP campaign for President:

“Scott Walker is a welcome addition to the 2016 Republican field and I’m glad to have him join the race. Gov. Walker has been a successful governor of Wisconsin where he bravely took on the unions to pass important right to work legislation. His talents will sharpen the field and make us all stronger as we prepare to face Hillary in the general election.”

Trump was interviewed by the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board on or about 29th June for over an hour. Trump speaks about his plan for healthcare; see around the 55 minute mark in the Tribune video linked below.

A little synopsis. Trump talked about a private healthcare system; removing state line for healthcare and gives an example for a better deal in another state; taking care of people who are without insurance by making deals with hospitals and says this will mostly be private so not government; and it won’t be as good as people paying for insurance, but he believes it will still be pretty good. Listen around the 55 minute mark in the Youtube video. The whole interview is also very good.

As a Canadian looking from outside the US, it’s very easy to see that trump is not even a contender. That would rule one out for you.

Personally, I would look hard at Cruz. Remember one thing though, the problems in the US won’t be solved by voting.

Great job, South40!

I watched it live, but didn't get into the thread in order to avoid reading biased comments.

I don’t have a problem with what Trump said. Sheesh... even Jesus said Christians are to look after the poor. And families were to look after each other What Jesus did NOT say was that governments should look after the poor..... or destroy the family so that the governments would be the only ones left to fulfil that role.

hecticskeptic, read or listen to what Trump said again. He implied that Conservatives generally were cold-hearted and left the poor to fend for themselves, when it is totally opposite.

As for Red Steel's post for Trump's solution, do you notice that his solution is to use the government to negotiate with hospitals. Everything is to negotiate for Trump because it is his world. The Conservative solution is for private charity to take care of them, such as, Catholic hospitals. Our almighty Government can't let charity hospitals survive, can it? Because they take away the power of the Government to control our lives.

I didn't get that impression at all that Conservatives being "cold hearted" while Trump was speaking to the Chicago Tribune, but going back to private enterprise after the repeal of Obamacare. Hospital organizations would work out ways to deal with the uninsured.

The Conservative solution is for private charity to take care of them, such as, Catholic hospitals.

Trump didn't rule this out. Trump is the opposite of government socialism since he is a Capitalist.

He was addressing Obamacare. I took it that Trump meant that whatever we replaced Obamacare with had to be available to everybody. I agree with that. I don’t think we can abandon those with pre existing conditions.

We’re going to pay for the poor and have been one way or another.

I took it to mean we have to include everyone in healthcare. He was discussing Obamacare when he said that.

Trump is the opposite of government socialism since he is a Capitalist.

You've got your head in the sand Red. Trump is for big government socialism when it comes to health care and he always has been. Does this sounds like a capitalist to you, or does this sound just like a socialist Hillary or Obama?

“I think it is. It’s an entitlement to this country, and too bad the world can’t be, you know, in this country. But the fact is, it’s an entitlement to this country if we’re going to have a great country.”

Speaking with The Advocate that year, Trump said he’d fund his universal health care plan with an increase in corporate taxes.

“I would put forward a comprehensive health care program and fund it with an increase in corporate taxes,” Trump said.

source

Socialist health care as an "entitlement" funded with higher taxes. That's about as clear as the man can get. Even so, he said "get used to it conservatives" and his supporters continue to deny that is what he was talking about. Incredible.

Did you listen to what Trump said in detail and expanded on his viewpoint about healthcare to the Chicago Tribune? No, it’s not me with his head in the sand South.

Actually, yes you are as you are ignoring his HISTORY of wanting socialized healthcare and how that plays into what he is advocating for now.

Or he gave it more intellectual thought and this is what he is going to do. Getting fooled by the clowns in DC and their puppet masters for decades doesn’t work for sure.

Actually, I see it quite clearly.

You said Trump is the opposite of government socialism since he is a Capitalist while you conveniently ignore the FACT that he also has said he would fund his universal health care plan with an increase in corporate taxes.

You have to ignore that inconvenient FACT to defend your liberal candidate. And that can't be denied.

You conveniently didn’t listen to what he said to the Chicago Tribune in the link above. He’s for free and private Enterprise that is clear. Trump eliminating the state borders for people to buy insurance in any other state besides their own (and socialist ObamaCare no longer exists) will help people afford to buy healthcare in a private enterprise system.

And what you and all others who have fallen for this circus sideshow don't get is you don't just listen to what a candidate says while he is running, they will tell you anything. You look at their history. The man says in his own words that he is a liberal who supports universal health care paid for with higher taxes. Yet you are falling for his campaign rhetoric?

I worked in many campaigns dating back to Ronald Reagan's first presidential run in 1976, and I have never seen a more gullible electorate than what I am seeing now. You should be embarrassed that you can be taken in so easily by this used car salesman, and I do really believe that one day you will be.
