A Santa Rosa man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of child endangerment and other charges after he allowed his 15-year-old daughter to drive his Dodge Ram while he sat by as a drunken passenger, the CHP said.
An officer stopped the truck Sunday night around 7:30 p.m. after noticing it going about 20 mph in a 35 mph zone on Llano Road with expired registration, said Officer Jon Sloat in a news release.
He stopped the truck after it pulled into a private driveway and found that a 15-year-old was driving along with passenger Grasifedo Chavez, 35.
Chavez told the officer he was teaching his daughter to drive and that he was meeting someone at the drive theyd pulled into. But the owner of the home said they didnt know Chavez.
The officer noticed several empty beer cans in the truck and that Chavez showed signs of intoxication, Sloat said. Chavez was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, permitting an unlicensed driver to operate his vehicle, and providing false information to an officer. The girl was released to her mother, Sloat said.
Not the best parenting, but the author would probably be shocked to leard that farm kids start driving, not just cars but tractors, when they are 11 or 12. Of course the parents provide training and are sober.
“with expired registration”
Profiling. It is supposed to be expired.
Sadly, I never leard a thing from my parents, sober or otherwise, which is probably evident.
My neighbor, when I was a kid, had a farm license when he lived in Michigan. He said 13 or 14 year olds could get provisional licenses to drive farm equipment or even a pick up truck. It was just supposed to be for farm purposes.
15 is waaay too young for a child to be driving! Child endangerment for this offense should carry a 15 year sentence!
This young lady should not have to ensure that her papa gets home safely. She should be free to enjoy her childhood while she is still young! Let her go to her school and get one of those free sex-change operations the schools are so anxious to dispense without parental notification, let alone approval.

......the author would probably be shocked to leard that farm kids start driving, not just cars but tractors, when they are 11 or 12......
LOL! That's how I learned to drive on an old Ford 8N tractor......
Waaayy back more years than I care to count...
About the same age but brought up on Massey Ferguson 135/165s.
That was in the 1930s
15 may be too young now but I think many ranch kids are capable.
I actually drove a tow truck when I was 14. I lied about my age and was plowing parking lots and towed a couple of cars. That was ‘76.
I mean 15 is not that insanely young. My 15 year old daughter drove me around lots of times. I wasn’t drunk, and she did have a learner’s permit, but still, this shocking headline failed to shock me.
” My 15 year old daughter drove me around lots of times. I wasnt drunk,”
Sure.
You have it all wrong; the 15 year old drives the limo and the 13 year old acts as bartender.
I had an employee who grew up in Mexico. He said he worked at a fireworks factory at 10 making gunpowder. It cam up because he wanted to blow up a boulder in a field. For some odd reason I can’t remember I vetoed this idea.
Oh, another drunk messycan. Next!
You can get a license in MI to drive at 14 if you need it to work at a farm.
All you have to is get a job at a farm, and get them to sign a paper that says you need to drive.
I would prefer a sober 8 year old to a drunken adult driving on my local roads.
Started driving and plumbing when I was 9. My older brother was a plumber and he would take us out to these large sub-divisions that were under construction. He would get out and install the rough-in plumbing and we would go a few block away and set toilet, sinks and faucets. He had a Chevy van with parts bins and the van had a 3 on the tree stick. By the time we got to the block we were going to I have all of the parts bins empty jumping that thing down the road. By 7th grade my dad would let me drive his Eldorado to school and then I would jump out and he would go to work.
Today I have 17 yr old step son who I won’t even allow near my truck or car. He shows no responsibility in anything he does and nor has the attention span to let him focus on a 2 ton car driving down the road at 70mph. I have only let him drive in the pasture a couple of times and even that is a chore. I try to tell him to adjust his seat to the right position and he just ignores that as if its a big joke. I’m 6’2” and he’s 5’7” and he starts arguing that he can reach the peddles. Then I drag him out and make him ride in the back.
We saw a 15 year old with no learners permit take a left turn too soon and hit the back end of a motorcycle. Not funny at all. The kid fled the scene and was found hiding in a corn field.
Supervised driving before 16 is a good thing and they can learn to drive. Farm kids start around 12 on their own property. On their own with no license can be quite dangerous to others.

You may be ‘tongue in cheek’ but I remember going to the store and picking up cigarettes and beer for my father and he left when I was about 11 so......
Having a full time job at 13 and the above really makes me laugh when I go into a gas station and the sign says one must be 15 before they can pump gas....YET they can be issued condoms, get an adadiktome or takadikfromme without parents consent.....
Remember ALL this virtually started when ‘they’ told us it was none of our business what books your kid checked out of the Library or knowing their grades....
The old ‘camels nose’ under the tent routine.
Now that the Stars and Bars are banned, guess we can look forward to ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ as a threatening gesture and as the ‘rights get stripped’ from others to ban certain license plates, they will all band together and pretty soon we will be back to the generic license plates together..
I fly the “POW/MIA” under the “Stars and Stripes” but am getting ready to fly both upside down...
MAYBE that is where the ‘boycott’ should start. Put up as many Flags as possible and ‘Fly them upside down’ if nothing else it will show the ‘true believers’.
Kind of like the guy rushes into Church with Guns a wavin and threatens all with quick extinction. He then claims he is a messenger of the Lord and was sent to send the non believers ‘home’. He then proclaimed he was going to open fire in 3 minutes and all had better get out.
3 minutes later he turned to the Preacher and said “Go ahead Preacher, the non believers have already left”.
Then I drag him out and make him ride in the back.

Hmmm.. I believe in most states that will get you a ticket and probably child endangerment amidst a plethora of other charges.
Ain’t progress wonderful????
If PROgress is moving forward
What does
CONgress indicate????
Profiling. It is supposed to be expired.
How much you wanna bet they let someone take the truck home for him instead of impounding it?
