Au contraire. Up until about two years ago when he fell ill, Prince Philip had the busiest calendar of any of the royals, being a patron of some 800 organizations. The Brits are often on the discussion forums complaining how little the younger princes do in comparison.

Prince Philip is also substantially responsible for turning many of the royal properties into money-earning enterprises. He had a lot of creativity and management ability.
