On July 7 the Memphis City Council voted unanimously to exhume the body of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest from its 110 year resting place and move it to another location.
The body of Forrests wife will be exhumed as well.
According to Local Memphis, the council voted to exhume Forrests remains from Health Sciences Park on Union Avenue. They plan to sell a statue of Forrest as wellthey are thinking of selling the statue to anyone who wants it.
Forrest was a businessman who become wealthy in the cotton trade prior to the Civil War. He abandoned that to fight federal forces once the war commenced, eventually becoming a lieutenant general in the Confederate Army. He was known for waging brutal warfare against federal forces in Mississippi and Tennessee.
The Forrest family has made clear that they are solidly opposed to digging up the graves and moving them any place. They are opposed to moving the statue as well. . .

So Donald was asked if it should fly over the SC State Capitol building which it doesn’t now. Wrong question, wrong answer.

Another Freeper yesterday had some good information, that Confederate Soldiers had similar burial rights as US soldiers. There may be a decent legal challenge to stop this bull shit.
Sorry...it was an “oops” moment. :)
I listen to that song every day. My favorite version is from Madison Square Garden in 1972 and can be found on the Prince from Another Planet CD and An Afternoon In The Garden CD.
The day they ban Elvis singing Dixie is the day this Northern Yankee riots lol.
Incredible.. The Taliban got nothing on Memphis.
Once you start desecrating graves of historical figures because of PC, you are headed down a low road that I don’t think leads anywhere.
Is that the current lineup? There are more white faces than I expected. Feckless bastidges.
Canton, Mississippi is about 4 hours or 200 miles south of Memphis on I-55.
It is a place that just scares the sh** out of me. Stopping for fuel or over night is just asking for it.
A position that there’s no objective evil doesn’t even make sense, or why would it be wrong to differ from it.
It’s been awhile since I read, or was told, this. IIRC, it was to disarm people into believing that there could be no consequences for their actions. That hell didn’t exist, therefore no one could go to hell.
That notion lasts maybe 15 seconds before a wise questioner... then the one who asserted it will be damning the questioner to hell or decrying a hellish attitude....
But we aren’t talking about a debate. Or even a direct discussion.
Key words: subtle, manipulation/ exploitation, etc. There’s difference between deception & outright lies with the unsuspecting &/ or unprepared or uniformed.
The devil goes for vulnerabilities- which everyone has. People who believe in the occult are some of the most vulnerable (back to the topic at hand)
DH thinks this might be Biblical. I need to look for it.
I didn’t set the rules that they couldn’t serve in combat; I wasn’t even born until a quarter of a century after that war ended.
Did they fight their way into the camp, or was it abandoned by German units? Your link doesn’t say.
Interesting if this move becomes reality then that will be the 3rd burial for Forrest.
His original burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery which was his request in his will.
In the early 1900 the City of Memphis named this park area after him and moved his
remains to the present location. If all goes as planned and his remains are moved back
to Elmwood then burial #3 will occur.
Strange happens.
You always post interesting info, deport.
Put in that context...it won’t be as horrible as it sounds.
That’s right; the space program was a “white thing”...
You can thank one of the people on my FB page for it. That and catching the grave issue on the news. It will end up in court, as the family won’t approve it, and then there are the Sons & Daughters of the Confederacy to consider too.
Have to agree with you on the 1920’s stuff. They will be burning books next.
Big Pharma is already trying to kill me with their nasty drugs. Third bad night in a row.
And...
The Forrest family has made clear that they are solidly opposed to digging up the graves and moving them any place. They are opposed to moving the statue as well. . .
Looks like they are going to have to ride this vision out. Memphis, named for Memphis, Egypt.
Gotta start with the general!
Ezekiel 37:10-14
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
