Freeper Friends.

This article by this woman and her facts are directly at odds with Rush's and others' that I respect claims that Trump has very solid figures behind his statements. Of course, I'm inclined to believe them over someone named Chavez who has associations in the past with La Raza, but it is strange the Post and also National Review are giving her post time.

I was hoping someone with a better understanding of the true stats than I could let me know why Chavez is full of it with this post.

Also, I am saddened that the Post, usually reliably conservative around here, would let her push this falsehood on the front page of their online site.

I saw her original post on National Review a few days ago. She's one of the first on her side to actually provide a statistics based rebuttal to Trump's statements. My impression is that she plays games with illegal versus legal immigrants. She also does stuff like compare crime statistics of immigrants not to the general non-immigrant population but to the non-immigrant population without high school diplomas. She does this in the article you've posted. It looks to me like she's got her finger on the scales all over the place and that there is ample room to rebut her.

27% of all Federal prisoners are illegal.

They constitute about 5% of the population.

What more does anyone need to know? Hell, is Linda Chavez legal? Where her papers?

She seems to simply be manipulating the numbers.

For example, she compares Ethnic Mexicans to Mexican immigrants, not all Americans.

I did not see if she “normed” the numbers for the time spent here.

There is also the question of under reporting of crime in the immigrant neighborhoods.

And, of course, it the immigrants were not here, then *any* crime they commit would not have happened here.

At this point I don’t trust anyone of Hispanic decent. They have an agenda and being a true blue American isn’t it.

In his original remarks, Trump made no distinction between legal and illegal immigrants, though he and the media have treated the insults as if they referred only to illegal immigrants from Mexico.

A damned lie. It's clear Trump was talking about those crossing the border illegally, and he even says he talked to border guards, and that some are from the Middle East and other places. Why would he mention other nationalities crossing the border? Many are just quoting part of his statement:

The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems.

(APPLAUSE)

Thank you. It's true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we're getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They're sending us not the right people.

It's coming from more than Mexico. It's coming from all over South and Latin America, and it's coming probably -- probably -- from the Middle East. But we don't know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don't know what's happening. And it's got to stop and it's got to stop fast.

People know exactly what Trump was talking about.

Linda Chavez misses the point. Illegal Aliens are here ILLEGALLY and ANY crime they commit makes the point.

Chavez has contracted a terminal case of the dreaded “Geraldo Rivera” disease.

Those infected with this disease lose any ability to make sound, fact based judgements when the issue of illegal immigration arises.

..But what about Trump’s contention that Mexico is sending us criminals and rapists? In fact, the very opposite is true. Mexican immigrants, legal and illegal, like all immigrants, have lower rates of criminal behavior than the native born...

...As for incarceration rates, immigrant men ages 18 to 39 are less than half as likely to be incarcerated than native-born men the same age, according to the Ewing study.

Mexican men are even less likely to be incarcerated: Their rates are one-third that of natives with similar demographic characteristics.

And Salvadoran and Guatemalan men are incarcerated at one-fifth the rate of native-born men without a high school degree — the group most likely to commit violent crimes....

Uh, Mrs. Chavez...in case you're wondering what is wrong with the poor argument you have offered, I'll clue you in: The vast majority of the crimes are being committed by illegal aliens who ARE NOT incarcerated.

Consequently, the incarceration rates of Mexicans, Salvadorans and Nicaraguans is of absolutely no moment whatsoever in this discussion.

Any time you need clarification on fine logical points such as these, please feel free to call upon Milton Miteybad.

The entire point of what Chavez is saying is idiotic. Her Premise stinks to high Heaven and she hasn’t a Clue.

If the Illegal Invaders were not here in the first place, Lives would have been saved, Prisons would be less crowded and the Taxpayers of this Country would be saving Billions of Dollars in Giveaways.

Is this Rocket Science? Comparing Crimes committed by Legal Americans versus the Illegal Invaders is like comparing Apples and Oranges. There is no correlation, the Illegal Invaders aren’t even supposed to be here, period.

Any resource taken away from Law Enforcement to go after Illegals Invaders could have been used to prevent crimes committed by Obama’s Fantasy Sons, I mean Americans.

By virtue of being in the country ILLEGALLY, by definition, 100% have committed a crime. And incarceration rates in federal prisons paints a much different picture.

You do not have to read many words before you get to an unsupported assertion. Mexico indeed is sending us criminals and rapists! That fact is unarguable! What psycho-babble is this lady trying to tell us?

Mexico does NOT have open borders. But does Mexico even know who is who among those crossing into the USA? Why would Mexico, or any country for that matter, not want to get rid of its criminals? What is the role of the drug cartels at the border?

Right off the bat Chavez sweeps away the illegal status of those under discussion, which leads one to question all of the statistics mentioned.

Chavez has been a closet member of La Raza for a long time.

This is a complete and deliberate misstatement Read below and these figures (below) are only from 2004. I taught in a Level IV California prison. From what I observed, there were at least 30% of the inmate population who were illegals.

Heather Mac Donald’s testimony before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security, and Claims:
In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide in the first half of 2004 (which totaled 1,200 to 1,500) targeted illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) were for illegal aliens. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican Nationals here illegally
