LAUDERHILL, Fla. (July 9, 2015)- Police in South Florida say an 11-month-old baby died after being left inside a sport utility vehicle parked outside their apartment near Fort Lauderdale.
Lauderhill police spokesman Gregory Solowsky says the baby's parents and four other children were unloading groceries on Wednesday afternoon and forgot to get the baby out of the vehicle. He says about an hour later, they realized the baby wasn't in the house. They returned to the Ford Explorer and found the baby inside.

Whoever is good with inventions, needs to make something to “fix” this....like a very loud alarm if the baby is the only one left in the vehicle. It would make whoever it is a fortune.
Who drives a Prius and has infants? A smug self righteous earth hugger breeds?

Many grandparents drive with the grandbabies in their car, and I can assure you that most of us do not have SMART PHONES, nor do we ever want one, EVER.
Interesting fact....grandparents aren’t the ones leaving the grand babies in the car. Could it be that the Facebook, blogs, iPhones are making us “forgetful” or not paying attention to life. I have an I-Phone and other gadgets and probably am on them too much so I am not judging but the correlation may be there for some of these parents.

I guess this is the sort of thing that is meant to be sorted out in court. This sort of thing can happen by accident, sadly. If it is done accidentally, I’m not sure that I’d support a negligence conviction. OTOH, people who deliberately leave small children in a closed car in the summer are surely deserving of such a conviction.
This is such a horrible thing to happen for that couple, so sad. Even more so if it had been a grandparent who forgot. oh my gosh.........I would have to be put in an asylum.
It’s hard to believe that one would go five minutes before remembering about the baby, much less an hour.
Sort of like what Urkel wants to do right now.
The shoe idea is remarkably ingenious and free. Trust me. If one of your shoes is in the back seat with your infant, you’ll remember the moment your foot touches scorching hot pavement!

I guess the picture taking is about all I would use one for, very convenient I’m sure. Guess I will just stick to my little flip phone about 20 years old now. lol
I can assure you of this much as well, WE ARE smarter than those EXPENSIVE phones and the people who purchase them, how’s that? We are smart enough to save our money, but to be fair I was never into FADS or fashions.
When my children were small, I would forget their diaper bags, sometimes on top of the car, and all sorts of other things. But I never once forgot one of my children. I thank God I don’t have to live with the death of my child like these people will for the rest of their lives.
Just dreadful. RIP.
Beside that I can't learn the jive talk...? u dng? can you guess that that is?
My dream fun thing to do is to get one of those old 1920's style phones. The ones that are very tall with the ear piece you pick up off the holder.....
Ok now imagine coming up to a stop sign, young people TEXTING NEXT to you......you pick up that phone and start talking. Guess you would have to roll down you windows and speak loudly.
If they see you, give them a friendly nod and drive away.
I forgot my son.
He was less than a month old. I had a 2 year old and I was exhausted and very sick.
I got up, did my morning routine, laid him down for his nap, then tidied up the house and gave my daughter a bath. I realized that I needed a few things from the store and decided to take my daughter of ice cream while we were out.
I made it about three miles down the road before I remembered that I had another baby.
Thankfully, he was still asleep in his crib when we got back home - non the wiser.
This was in 1993. No cellphones. No computer. Heck, I didn’t even have a cordless phone. We were living in Germany and had one television station. (AFN) So, no. I wasn’t distracted by technology.
But I do understand how a new parent’s exhausted brain can fall into a routine and just ‘skip’ important details.
I think that grandparents do better because they usually don’t have the kids full time and they’re better rested than new parents. That’s why grandparents are necessary.
I hate to admit that story, but I think it’s important for people to get off their high horses and realize that we’re infallible human beings. That makes us think and be more aware of the horrible possibilities and take precautions.
If I had a baby today, I’d have every technological safety measure that’s available.
