I just read the article and the sensational headline does not tell the story at all.
The judge in this case has worked a long time to make sure that the children have any sort of relationship with their father. Their father has done everything he can to have a relationship with his children.
But their mother has poisoned her children with hatred of their father, and they refuse to even talk to him. When told they will either have lunch with their father or they will go to a detention center away from their family, the 9 and 10 year old decided to got to the center.
Now if you think this is extreme, consider this: both of the young children had a lawyer assigned to them and neither lawyer objected to the judge’s order. Two lawyers assigned to look after the children agreed after examining the case that the mother had indeed caused great injury to her children by means of alienation of their father.
I have seen this many times in cases of divorce, and it looks like this time the mom didn’t get away with it.
But that is exactly the impression given by the article and headline.
I think it’s a bit silly to bring up the Mansons. And stupid to suggest it to a teen. He might look it up and run with it.
Okay... let’s say that the Mom truly is poisoning her kid’s mind. (I’m saying this simply because we don’t know all the details). Then why couldn’t the judge place custody with the Dad and allow the Mom visitation? I just think that kids are caught between a rock and a hard place. Show Dad some love.. get rejected by the parent that has you most of the time. Not show Dad some love.. get thrown into jail. IMHO.. the judge should see the kids as being manipulated vs criminal. The fault lies with the adult(s).. perhaps Mom should be thrown into jail vs the kids. IMHO.
I bet she doesn't lose custody, though...
Sounds like Mom is the one who needs a time out in Detention not the kids.
So far the kids arent budging and it’s been weeks they have been detained....
so what if the kids decide to never speak to their father againb?
Will they be held until they are 18 with no contact with thier mother what so ever?
Just how long to you think it’s ok to hold a 9 yr old in contempt of court?
9 years?
“But their mother has poisoned her children with hatred of their father, and they refuse to even talk to him. “
That’s what is so cultic about it. They can’t meet him because they may discover that he doesn’t meet the mom’s narrative.
Part of cult behavior is alienating anyone who doesn’t fit the narrative.
