Secession would be handled much differently than in Lincoln’s day. I wonder what would happen if independent status were filed with the UN or world court or some other such body. I think they’d be glad to participate in the piecemealing of America. That said, I’m sure Texas is one state that WOULD be able to make it on their own.

The Republic of Texas would never tolerate being a creation of those abominations.

Texas can feed itself. It has abundant energy and a few desalination plants would give it all the water it needs. Throw in a couple of deep water ports and a gold horde and you have more than most nations now.

My question is, how many states would go with it? Oklahoma? New Mexico? Arkansas? Louisiana? Then what? Would Kansas and Colorado be far behind? What about the deep south states?
