Mitt Romney isn’t running for President, but that isn’t stopping him from commenting about the people who are, especially one guy named Donald Trump:
Mitt Romney said Saturday that Donald Trump’s comments on Mexico and undocumented immigrants have hurt the Republican Party, making the 2012 presidential nominee the latest Republican to slam the billionaire over his controversial remarks.
Romney made his remarks during a Fourth of July parade in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, which was also attended by presidential candidates New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Asked if Trump’s comments on Mexicans have hurt the Republican Party, Romney replied, “Yes.”
“I think he made a severe error in saying what he did about Mexican-Americans,” Romney said.
And when he was asked if Republican candidates should be speaking out about Trump’s comments, Romney said, “I think a number of them have.”
He was referring to the handful of 2016 Republican hopefuls, most notably former New York Gov. George Pataki, who have slammed Trump over his remarks, in which he referred to some Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and “killers.”
Pataki isn’t alone in criticizing Trump anymore, though. Just in the past several days Jeb Bush has called Trump’s remarks “extraordinarily ugly,” Marco Rubio has called then “offensive” and “divisive,” former Texas Governor Rick Perry said he was offended by Trump’s remarks and that Trump does not represent the Republican Party, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has also joined in the criticism of Trump’s remarks. So far, in fact, the only Republican candidate who has had anything positive to say about Trump is Ted Cruz:
While several of his competitors run in the opposite direction, Republican presidential candidate Ted

Hey! Somebody pulled out the GFI circuit and re-wired all the outlets to 220.
Yes, I’m looking at you, Norm!
I was thinking more the main outs on Hoover actually... Or the CERN collider.
Cruz has said that the ruling only applied to those directly involved in the lawsuit.
He has also introduced an Amendment for Supreme Court Justices to be subject to 8 year retention elections.
He has condemned this ruling more harshly than anyone else running and he is fighting it.
Maybe President Cruz will put Trump in charge of Homeland Security
Almost ditto ... I only ask myself musingly and occasionally. It’s still baffling.
I haven’t seen anything about Walker lately. Did he weigh in on this?
I agree. Walker and Carly F. are okay also.
“choke like a dog” Romney-LOL!
Sounds like Romney is trying to divide the GOP and turn them against each other. Romney’s attack on the Confederate flag only would drive away Southern support (something the GOP needs to win). There was noting to be gained by it.
Mitt Romney is the John McCain of 2012. Hey Mitt, please simply go away and shut your pie hole. You had your chance, and you blew it big time. As to Bush, Rubio and Perry, just go home. We do not want you.
Let Trump get out front and say what needs to be said. Let the MSM attack him mercilessly. I believe that in his heart, Trump knows he will not get the nomination but he wants to spread the message that needs to be spread.
A winning ticket would be Cruz for President and Fiorina for Vice President.
Romney, et al., have yet to say a word about the truth and substance of Trump's statement of facts about illegal immigration, deportation dysfunction, gangs, drug cartels, terrorists, ineffective border security, the will of the people, etc.
Romney, et al., look like FOOLS! Do they have statistics on the percentage of illegals with criminal intent? Do they have statistics on percentage of illegals convicted of serious crimes who are in our jails? Do they have numbers of illegal aliens actually here to work?
Do they ever talk about the fairness to Mexicans who waited in line and immigrated in a legal manner to the USA?
Exactly what did Donald Trump say that is incorrect? Anything?
Who is paying these Republicans elite to look the other way?
Cruz is in a class by himself.
About Romney...somebody ought to ask him if it was a “severe error” to say that queers should adopt children.
Yes, he's already beginning to lay the groundwork for dropping out....saying his "brand" is being damaged, he didn't know he would get such blowback, etc.
I guess you missed Trump’s interview with Howard Kurtz today. He sounded far from discouraged. Nobody in their right mind is going to drop out when they are polling number 1 or 2 depending on which poll you look at. So dream on. :-)
I think he made a severe error in saying what he did about Mexican-Americans,
Maybe I didn’t listen carefully enough, but Trump made his comments about Mexicans who come to the USA illegally, not Mexican-Americans? Oy. Maybe there’s a reason we lost in ‘12?
I can only say his poll numbers have dropped from 14% to 6%.(recent polls).
He has no natural base that is large enough to carry him.
His recent pandering to his tribe shows desperation.
I think he is finished.
Sure, I missed it. You think I'm scouring the Directv guide for Trump appearances?
" He sounded far from discouraged. Nobody in their right mind is going to drop out when they are polling number 1 or 2 depending on which poll you look at. So dream on. :-)"
*Shrug* I'm just relating what he said from a couple of threads posted earlier today. At some point, that IS what he'll do, you know.
And I notice you were awful quick to jump in and try to correct me. ;)
Well that weeds out the RINOs.
Dear Mitt: Please SHUT THE F**K UP. We do not want to hear more about you and the hosting of the candidates... We could care less if you had Bernie, Hillary, Jim, Lincoln and Martin at your house to celebrate National Naturist Week. (That would be scary...all of them nude).
