The struggle for Ukraine is more serious than ISIS

KIEV — Vladimir Putin continues to chip away at Ukraine while the west just watches.

In the past year, Ukraine has lost 9% of its territory, 1.3 million people have fled Russian-occupied regions, 6,200 people have died and 30,000 have been wounded.

On July 17, one year ago, Russian missiles blew up a Malaysian plane over Ukraine, killing 298 passengers on board, a war crime barely mentioned.

Ukraine’s economy has been damaged and the country’s payments on debts, due to years of exorbitant Russian gas prices, are the same as defense costs.

Russia’s aggression is at bay because, in the absence of military aid from the west, thousands of volunteers have armed themselves to help their rag-tag army.

Actually it’s not worse than ISIS, which has displaced 3.5 million people and killed over 200,000. The ISIS Crisis is now in Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and France. It is the first USA sanctioned Islamic terrorist global Initiative.

I agree with you now, but I believe that ISIS will be defeated. Obama will not take effective and resolute action against Putin’s aggression, however. In that regard, Putin’s belligerence and bullying of peaceful neighbors, his nuclear arsenal, his vast personal and state wealth, all represent a bigger threat than ISIS. ISIS has fewer supporters and more enemies.

This is silly. There is no threat to us. The Russians are running out of money due to the oil price crash, and have gotten as far as they have only because the Ukrainians are even more corrupt than the Russkis.

We're giving SIGNIFICANT covert help to the Ukrainians in the form of strategic C3I data via Polish cutouts. Russia had only about 50,000 politically reliable troops, aka regime protection forces, which have taken about 40% casualties in the Ukraine. Putin's regime has major trouble recruiting and training replacements.

He and his regime have maybe 18 months left. THEN there will be trouble because a successor regime won't have sufficient politically reliable troops to overcome the usual Russian centrifugal political forces. We might see another Time of Troubles there.

That would be a real threat to us, and the world, because the Russians have maintained, on only a reduced scale, the old ex-Soviet biological warfare establishment. Terrorists getting hold of any of that would have truly awful possibilities.

See _The Dead Hand: The Untold Story of the Cold War Arms Race and Its Dangerous Legacy_ and _The Soviet Biological Weapons Program: A History_.

The struggle for Ukraine is more serious than ISIS

While ISIS and Islamic terrorists have been responsible for more than 75 terrorist attacks inside the US since 1972, killing over 3100 Americans here at home, Islamic terror attacks cannot compare to the whopping danger of Russian attacks on the US numbering zero but immensely threatening to Obama and the Socialist/Fascist DemoRat ruling elite income stream which must be protected at all costs.

I hope the Ukranians prevail, but ISIS and our leftist sexual degenerates are more of a threat to the USA than Putin.

Really since 1972? You want to pretend that the daily fears of the total destruction of America and Europe from Russia wasn’t real?

None of the Russian/international communism threats and bloody wars were real? Some of our GIs were killing Russians in Vietnam, and we saw them and their surrogates and allies in Korea, Vietnam, and Grenada, and in Latin America, and Africa, the Russian threat was real, and it is returning.

Go ahead and list Russian Czarist, Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, or Russian Federation military or terrorist attacks on the United States or American colonies since 1600. Muslim terrorists will appreciate your collaboration in research.

I was in the Army in 1972, while we trained for Vietnam, we also trained for the greatest threat to the world and to America, Russia. We weren’t training to fight on nuclear contaminated battlefields because of the Vietnamese, our Army, and our Navy, and our Air force was focused on the true enemy, Russia.

It Was the same for my brothers, whether in anti-submarine warfare, or Oct. 24, 1973, when American troops all over the world were put on alert. Defcon (or Defense Condition) III, the highest state of armed forces readiness for peacetime conditions. Although we were all serving during the Vietnam war, we knew that Russia was the true threat.

When Reagan came along, Russia was still the threat, and when I went back into the military to help us against Russia, as part of NATO, nothing had changed. It was still Russia that threatened our existence, and people like you were protesting us, and even killing us, and trying to bomb us, as Russia supporting terrorists.

There has never been a time my life when the Kremlin didn’t have your type supporting them.

Colon cancer is more serious/worse than prostate cancer! They both can kill you.

The Russians do have nukes and the capability to deliver them anywhere in the world including here though.

How's that list of Russian attacks on the US coming along, Abdul?

Obama and ISIS appreciate your diversion while they kill Christians.

How is your proof that the Cold war never existed, coming along?

Just what did you do in the Navy, that you never trained to fight Russia, or that while you were training to fight them, convinced you to devote yourself to Russia over America?

While you were diverting attention from Muslim terror today, Boko Haram killed 200 people, many Christians.

Great job Abdul, Obama is delighted with your efforts.

What does that have to do with the threat to our existence, and even the survival of Western Civilization, that Russia posed during the Cold War?

Just what did you do in the Navy, that you never trained to fight Russia, or that while you were training to fight them, convinced you to devote yourself to Russia, over America?
