Have we really reached the point where we are cheering this clown?

I notice you neglected to mention any issue referenced in the article you thought were clownish.

Give it a shot, name two.

Ummm ok....

From The American Thinker

Donald Trump has a solid history of conservatism going back many weeks

So Donald Trump is running for president, and in the interests of full disclosure, I’m one of his biggest fans. I’ve been following him for years, and I even comb my hair the same way he does. To his credit, he’s been a fierce critic of Democrats, and a bedrock voice of conservatism since at least April of this year.

I don’t think the history of what he has said or done prior to April 2015 has any bearing on his candidacy. You have to go back months and even a few years to find out that he’s given $700,000 or so in political donations to Harry Reid, Rahm Emmanuel, Charlie Rangel, and Charles Schumer, and he even made several donations to the sexting ex-solon Anthony Weiner, but that’s so old news! He’s also given money to Hillary Clinton, but just because he has donated to the candidate he’d like to run against, it shouldn’t be a problem. I mean, if he’s the nominee, he won’t continue to donate to Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, right?

Trump also used to support abortion rights, but lately, in April, and especially in May and the first two weeks of June, he has come out strongly pro-life.

When he considered a run for president in 2000 as a Reform Party candidate, Trump said he supported abortion rights. But he said last week that he now opposes the procedure except in cases of rape or incest or when the mother’s health is at risk.

People try to play gotcha with old quotes, too.

“Nancy — you’re the best. Congrats. Donald.”
—Handwritten note to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, January 2007

What people are missing is that he’s not praising Nancy Pelosi’s political positions – it’s just a love note! He was just a guy who was physically attracted to her! Remember, she was only 62 in 2007. Her skin wasn’t as tight, and her eyes weren’t as ping-pong-bally!

7) “I’m very liberal when it comes to health care. I believe in universal health care.”
—Interview with CNN’s Larry King, October 1999

Once again, a commonly misinterpreted quote. Sure, Trump supports universal health care, but how likely is that to happen on the level of the entire universe, on a truly galactic level? But on national health care, he’s as solid as a rock!

“By imposing a one-time 14.25 percent net-worth tax on the richest individuals and trusts, we can put America on sound financial footing for the next century.”
—Writing in his book, The America We Deserve, January 2000

I honestly believe this is a misquote or he misspoke. I think he was talking about a one-time 14.25-percent cigarette tax on the richest individuals and trusts. Cigarette taxes on rich people – who would have a problem with that?

“I think he [Obama] has a chance to go down as a great president.”
—Interview with NY1, November 2008

Note the tense! This was before Obama took office! This was even before Obama won his first Nobel Peace Prize! How could any of us have predicted that Obama would turn out the way he did? Obama sounded like a constitutional conservative when he first ran. You can’t blame Trump for that!

Looking intensely into Trump’s past is as fair as looking intensely into his hair; if you look hard enough, sure, you’ll find the bald truth, but on the other hand, he makes some great comments on Twitter! And he attacks Obama’s birth certificate! What more do we need in a credible candidate than that?

I think Trump is a buffoon, but the people who feel compelled to respond to what he is saying make me wonder what they know that I do not.
