Like a lot of federal agencies, there are two levels of management: first, the political one, in which the primary concern is how the agency may best be used to advance the interests of a specific political party; second, the one in charge of seeing that the agency actually perform in the arena it’s supposed to be playing in. With certain agencies - the BATFE comes to mind - there isn’t a lot of difference. With the CDC, well, people really do get communicable diseases and somebody has to try to stop it. What this level of the CDC thought of the Ebola fiasco is, I am informed by someone who worked there, neither public nor polite.

Well said...It’s plain the gentlemen in these emails are the workers dedicated to their profession and not the political hacks so common in most all these federal agencies.
