Jesus was speaking out against a lynch mob who had no right to “judge” anyone. Plus I have always suspected that many of the men in the mob were customers of the prostitute. Think about it, it takes two to tango so to speak.

I agree, Tex. We are not supposed to judge whether a person is going to heaven or hell; that’s God’s job. We are, however, called to discern sin or evil behavior and move ourselves away from it. We should always love the sinner enough to try and make sure that he/she understands the sin, and like the rest of us poor, miserable sinners, repents so he/she can receive forgiveness and avoid God’s wrath on the unrepentant. (and pray that other believers love us enough to do the same)

Sadly, though, this love we are called to demonstrate doesn’t support the sin and makes the sinner feel bad about themselves. So we become “bigots” in their eyes. It’s easier to name call than it is to acknowledge our own sin.
