I like Cruz and it doesn't bother me that he is beholden to the Bushes as it's impossible in politics to not have a patron. That said, your own post via Sen. Cruz's own email.
Karl, youve been a friend and mentor a long time, and I value that friendship immensely. Please let me know anything I can possibly do to address your and President Bush 43s concerns.
Thanks so much.
Ted.

You state as fact that he is somehow "beholden" to the Bushes.
A more accurate and objective response would be either that he COULD be "beholden" or there is a temptation to be "beholden" to the Bushes.
That being said, just because you get a political donation and/or an endorsement does not mean you are automatically "beholden" to the one donating/endorsing.
That is entirely up to the character of the politician (or Statesman where Cruz is concerned) accepting the donation/endorsement.

Which does nothing to imply that Ted Cruz was willing to do anything with respect to policy or governance if he was in office or even during his campaign that would violate his stated policies and his principles.
Be careful how you phrase things as it leave you open to accusations that you are accusing Ted Cruz of playing a "you scratch my back and I will scratch your back" political game.
