Donald Trump says if he's elected president, he'd let undocumented workers who are productive stay in the United States, but if they just sponge off the system and don't contribute ... he'd have them deported.
Trump tells TMZ, he'd create a "system of merit," saying people here illegally should have "a road to legal status" if they work hard and contribute to the country.
Trump also says no one really knows how many people are in the U.S. illegally -- he cites different stats that show the figure is somewhere between 11 and 30 million. Trumps says it's unrealistic and inhumane to attempt to deport all of them. Thus, the merit system. He says many undocumented workers are "hardworking people" who deserve a chance to live the American dream.
The candidate was not specific about the criteria for being "productive," but he was specific that people who don't pay their freight over a period of time have no place here.

You realize you responded to 2ndDivisionVet with your post, right?
:D
Yep...
And you saw it. I was just interested in your feedback on the Donald’s immigration stance...
I mean, you have been tough on Cruz, so what about Donnie boy?
BUZZZZ. Wrong answer. Adopt mexican immigration policies.
Can his American Idol voter supporters admit this man is a liberal now?
I think Trump has it completely right.
I support keeping working Mexicans here, allowing them to stay here, and allow them to continue to pursue American citizenship.
100%.
I am completely against allowing Mexicans however to sneak across the border and take advantage of America, and that is all too common. Send every single Mexican who does so, back to Mexico. Every one.
Most important, we need to build a real fence.
Build a real fence. Now.
lol!
Welcome to reality.
Liberalism is a disease.
Welcome to reality.
Trump needs to cage his gyro.
Georgia Girl 2 likes to throw out that "Mitt Walker" invective in every thread. I don't know why. She even accused me of supporting "Mitt Walker" when I never have, and went as far as to insist I did when I told her I had always been for Cruz. Very strange behavior to say the least.
Stranger still, is her boy Trump is closer to Mitt than any of the candidates. He is rich, he has a history of being a liberal and he claims to have flip-flopped on nearly every major issue. We're supposed to take his word for it that he has truly changed, just as we were supposed to take Mitt's. Mitt was rejected here at FR because no one believed him but GG2 apparently has bought every aspect of Trumps dog and pony show. Strange indeed.
While I am not a supporter of Walker, I can tell you this, he is much further from Mitt Romney than her boy Trump.
While I appreciate the warm, heartfelt welcome, don't think I'll suddenly turn into a Ted Cruz supporter or voter.
I was one of those already and he pulled a Trump x 10 with TPA/TPP/TiSA eta al.
Especially the lies and the excoriation of anyone opposed that he penned with Paul Ryan.
I have both Cruz and Trump on my "maybe" list. It's possible I could put Walker there at some point, but it's not looking good.
Those are the only folks in the race as far as I'm concerned.
This isn’t about Cruz. I was commenting on how it took this to make you see the light on Trump.
While I believe he would take many steps in the correct direction to restore the Republic.
My foundation principles are to repeal the 17th Amendment, Fair Trade, Enforcement of Immigration Law as written and Supremacy in National Defense.
Trump was closest to that.
Was.
And I always said Trump was a liberal. Many here, possibly even you, denied it. Can you hear me now? :-p
I don't believe I EVER denied he was a liberal or conservative or anything else.
I never saw him as more than an astute opportunist who thinks he has something to contribute. He just hasn't quite refined exactly what that is:)
“Enforce the law internally and enforce the border. Deport illegals who come in contact with law enforcement and the problem will become smaller and smaller with self-deportation and laws that are enforced.”
That is much too obvious and simple. There’s nothing to agonize over or pander to.
Oh he is definitely an opportunist. But mostly liberal with a record to prove it.
“I think he on to it as we have a lot of lazy folks now.”
The is what Jeb! believes, and has been saying that for quite a while —Americans are no longer capable of building/maintaining a nation. According to Jeb!, all we need to do is import multitudes of “aspirational youth” from south of the border to build a great civilization, to replicate what they have already accomplished back home. I heard a La Raza spokesman say that about 20 years ago. Although, he did say — we are going to drive the Europeans back to Europe.
” where do you find white boys who will tear off shingles, haul them up a ladder and work on the roof in the hot sun all day? That is the real problem-lazy ass white men who refuse to work.”
Most roofing companies now have portable elevator machines that haul the material to the roof. Last year, I was in MacDonald’s, and the owner of a small construction company, seated across the aisle, was teaching a Mexican how to read blueprints. I assume that was because the guy had hired all illegals, and needed a foreman who could communicate with them. When I was a kid, before the invasion, it was all Americans, mostly white, who were doing these jobs, supporting their families. However, we can comfort ourselves by CELEBRATING DIVERSITY!!!!!!!!
The empty can rattles the most.
.........................
Nothing more need be said about this guy. “Rattle” is a particularly accurate verb to describe his “thought” process.
