Well, now I think all states can eliminate their exchanges, since they are no longer required. Why should a state pay for the cost of that administrative nightmare, when it can now be passed off to the Federal Government?
What is the purpose of state exchanges in light of the ruling?
“What is the purpose of state exchanges in light of the ruling?”
Excellent point!
Even before the ruling, states are having a hard time keeping the exchanges going. That was always the intent. Soon the federal gov’t will be the sole provider of the exchange. From there it’s a short road to pushing everyone to Medicare/Medicade and from there all these private insurers will see the error in the side they picked in this fight.
How about “what is the purpose of states?” Certainly not to have any 10th Amendment rights anymore. When conventional state prerogatives like law enforcement, voting, marriage law, and now healthcare are steamrolled by the federal government, we may realize that doing away with states and their respective governments would not only save barrels of money but eliminate thousands of politicians who are generally useless anyway.

That LM, is the real question. The states brought suit to begin with because it was obvious they would be bankrupt, having to pay the freight. So, now what?
