The cross of St. Andrew, or so-called Southern Cross, was removed from the Georgia state flag in 2001.

Not Virginia’s.
The Virginia State Flag contains the Great Seal of Virginia. The Great Seal was approved and adopted at Virginia’s 1776 Constitutional Convention. It predates the Confederacy by 95 years.
