Well, do we really want license plates treated as free-for-alls? Want your kids to read all manner of obscenity on vanity plates?
I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be able to weed out that anymore either, if the ruling went the other way.
I would prefer that state governments get out of the vanity plate business altogether, but there is too much easy money to be made with them to hope realistically for that. If a group like Planned Parenthood can have a vanity plate, but the SCV can't, what does that say about our government?
