Dozens of members of the House GOP's most conservative faction plan to meet Tuesday to discuss ways to counteract the decision of House Speaker John Boehner and other leaders to seek retribution against members who vote against must-pass measures.
The House Freedom Caucus, a GOP group made up of about 40 of the most conservative members, plans to hold the discussion some time after Tuesday's evening votes, according to lawmakers familiar with the initiative.
Freedom Caucus Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Monday in a radio interview that many conservatives were "fed up" with the string of punishment meted out to members who don't vote in line with the Republican leadership on key legislation.

The Speaker vote is a vote of the full house...and there is no rule that says you must vote for your party, and in fact, you can vote for people not even in the House.
The only way to beat Boehner with 16 votes was the Pelosi scenario I’ve described a couple times in this thread.

Well, in retrospect a show of rebellion couldn’t have hurt. Conservatives wouldn’t be any worse off than they are now as regards Boner’s treatment of them.
That’s true, which is why I said part of me would have seen the merit in dissing Boehner for Pelosi. Would’ve sent a damned powerful message. Then again, we’d have a full fledged socialist idiot in what, the number 3 power slot in the nation?

I think Boner and crew are going to be surprised in 2016 if conservatives in mass refuse to vote for them.
I know I’m finally done. 43 years of voting Republican and I’m nothing but a urinal for these people. I will vote only for a conservative. Which means I’ll have very few boxes to check.

That being the case, it really doesn’t matter who or what they claim to be in public. When a man rapes, he’s a rapist. When he murders, he’s a murderer. When he lies, he’s a liar and when he backs a liberal, he is himself a liberal.
Further, Bhoner’s actual actions are those of a socialist at best. There’s a good argument to be made he is far worse.
This country we now live in with Mitch and Jonbon is exactly why many fought so hard to stop people from supporting them. And to stop the sup[port for Romney Romney that kicked the door wide open to open GOP liberalism.
It is such a simple concept. Econ 101 supports the idea as does common sense, logic and reason. If you subsidize a thing, you get more of it. Yet unhampered by the reality they live in, many so called right wingers/conservatives are again lining up to elect yet another GOP liberal offering.
I have to give even the worst of the liberals credit. they are at least smart enough to vote for what they want, not vote for what they don’t. We can’t.
Finally, someone that knows how it works! I got so tired a long time ago trying to explain to these third Party people that they have a loosing battle - but they didn’t listen. I hope the good Lord blesses you with a better outcome than I had.

There was no scenario for Pelosi to be speaker. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Sorry dude, another fail for you. The 16 republican scenario indeed referred to a plan where 16 Republicans would vote for whoever all the Democrats were voting for (probably Pelosi, maybe someone else). That’s exactly WTF was talked about, and that’s the only way the 16 vote issue was even pertinent.

The nomination process is where Bohner could have been taken down. The final vote was always going to be a R against a D.
And how was the nomination process going to do that? You think there’s a chance in hell he wouldn’t be nominated?
I see it too. I still have hope, as long as I see posts like yours on Free Republic. I've been out of the game myself because of business. But I might have time soon.

Since you've come into Free Republic in 2007, you STILL don't know what you are talking about when it comes to Congressional rules and procedures.
The way I understand it the newly elected freshmen were steam rolled in the nomination process.
CVA, they might have been steamrolled, but regardless - there were not enough freshmen to remove Boehner - outside the PELOSI SCENARIO I outlined, even if all frosh had wanted to do it.
There are over 200 Republicans in the House. Takes a helluva lot more than 40, or 16, to keep Boehner off the ballot. The only way was to join the Democrats to send a message. Might’ve been worth it in retrospect, but that’s another topic.
