Interesting thread. On Thursday a conservative colleague and I (we are both contractors for a DoD agency near Baltimore) had lunch for the first time in months. We threw out all possible pairings and how they fare with constituents. I was adamant about Cruz but he thinks he'll only appeal to a small group. He loves Kasich and thinks he has a chance. He's predicting a Kasich/Walker ticket.

When we looked at the Dem side, we both thought Hillary could be beat. He lives beside a DC and Dem lawyer who said Hillary should be in jail. I said there was only one person who would walk away for the Dems with hardly a challenge from the Right, and it ain't Hillary. Who would that be? Michelle! Forget not having experience and all that! However, pair up Michelle with Hillary and they lose in a landslide. Besides who would get top billing?

As we got in the elevator, he said to the one man standing there, "we're debating presidential politics. Who are you voting for in 2016?" Without hesitation, the complete stranger said, "Clinton."

After all it is close enough to DC. How she is even being considered is beyond me.

Fascinating and thanks for sharing.

I agree with your colleague. Cruz will only appeal to a small group and he’s made way to many missteps to be considered seriously by anyone outside that group. He just doesn’t “play well” and one must. That’s going to be a huge problem with Walker. When faced with anything of substance the word that always comes to my mind is “goofball”. Now that would NOT be a big thing as a VP candidate and give the Presidential blue nature of the State, I absolutely see him as a VP pick ... probably THE VP pick unless the nominee picks Rubio.

I am not yet sold on Kaisch running. I’m not a real fan but I’d vote for him.

Part of the problem is that some won’t separate their love of a candidate from “can he win”. We have way too many who Hillary will slaughter. And I am convinced the GOPe will beg Bush (I won’t vote for POTUS if they do).

Objectively, it is fascinating indeed. I see a Bush/Rubio ticket going down in flames. My personal desires aside I see Kaish as the GOP best shot. And damn straight Hillary should be in jail.

Enjoyed your take on it all. Thanks.
