“Holloway’s sidearm was still in its holster when police found him, but they also recovered .40-caliber Smith & Wesson from inside his police vehicle.”

So the officer inadvertently caused his own death. That’s so sad.

Police also recovered a .38-caliber handgun, the same caliber as the weapon that Boys had used in an assault that led to his first arrest Saturday.

Boys had been frisked when he was arrested and when he was taken to Central Lockup, Harrison said.

According to police, Boys was in the back seat of Holloway's car when he managed to slip his cuffed hands from behind his back, produce a hidden gun, shoot the NOPD officer and flee, eventually stealing a car that he later crashed.
