On June 20 former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag from their state Capitol grounds in Columbia.
His call comes in the wake of the heinous attack on Charlestons Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. It follows a photo of the suspected gunman, Dylann Roof, in which Roof is seen leaning against his car with a Confederate flag license plate visible on the front of his vehicle being widely circulated.
Here were Romneys exact words: Take down the Confederate Flag at the SC Capitol. To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred. Remove it now to honor Charleston victims.
With this, Romney joins President Obama in calling for the flag to be removed. In so doing, the former presidential candidate fails to realize he is taking a page of out of the lefts playbook, whereby they blame the flag instead of the miscreant, the gun instead of the gunman, etc.
While Romneys motivations for doing this are unknown, the left does it because crisis affords them a window of opportunity whereby they can use emotion to succeed where reason has failed.
On April 17 Breitbart News reported that a group of black students demanded that Washington & Lee Universitythe very namesake of General Robert E. Leeremove Confederate flags from campus and bar the Sons of Confederate Veterans from marching on campus for Lee-Jackson day, among other things. The group deemed the flags offensive. On July 27 Breitbart News reported that Washington & Lee University capitulated.

Stay up North Mitt. Oh and STFU!
Nearly all 59,423, or however many R candidates there are, have shot themselves in the foot the past few days. It’s only going to get worse.
The Confederate Battle Flag is a symbol of my ancestors, a symbol of pride and spirit. Its colors symbolize valor, purity, and truth, and when this flag is flown, these virtues are heritage and proudly remembered. I will not turn my back on my ancestors and their sacrifices. The Confederate Soldier's memory is not left up to the Federal Government. It is the responsibility of the descendants of those brave men to preserve their memory. No false shadow over their emblems or over their memory should be allowed to detract from their remembrance of the honor, courage and valor that they demonstrated.
Removal of this flag and not its presence is becoming a wedge between our people and is breeding a climate of resentment and intolerance. I tolerate black history month and a holiday designated for a philanderer and a plagiarizer. Those people should tolerate a symbol of my heritage and pride.

The race baiters will find some other symbol to hone in on, like, white people.
i have one on my nc.state tag.
Romney, a person no one cares about trying to be relevant...
I wouldn't "generally", they are different in their own little hives however. Most of in the North East just want left the hell alone
I worked 6 years in New York and drove 40 miles everyday to my work in White Plains with a front license of the Confederate Flag.
Never did I think of offending anybody. It was a proud heritage for me, and damn if I will bow to anybody that says it is bad.

Romney, big cheese in a religion that only belatedly recognized blacks as fully human.I know black people who have no use for Mormons based on that.
