The world is embarking on its sixth mass extinction with animals disappearing about 100 times faster than they used to, scientists warned Friday, and humans could be among the first victims.

Not since the age of the dinosaurs ended 66 million years ago has the planet been losing species at this rapid a rate, said a study led by experts at Stanford University, Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley.

The study "shows without any significant doubt that we are now entering the sixth great mass extinction event," said co-author Paul Ehrlich, a Stanford University professor of biology.

The cave study didn’t have anything to do with acidification but concerned the N A oscillation. It didn’t address the causes only the change in rainfall in areas impacted by the oscillation.

So there were just normal extinction rates during World War I and World War II ? All that carpet bombing and nuclear weapons testing was normal ? One would think that not having all the governments of the world at war with each other, would be better for the planets inhabitants.

The oceans cannot have more acidity. They are not acid. There are alkaline. They can never be made acid by the atmosphere. If their alkalinity lowers, sediments tend to dissolve to raise the alkalinity back up. And coral reefs in the lagoons of Palau that are naturally less alkaline are doing fine in that less alkaline ocean water. When you understand why, you will understand why acidity is not even an issue. Unfortunately leftist scientist in general are clueless about the world, because they lack a basic understanding of the physical world.

I have to agree with you. I started to read the article and as soon as I came across the name Paul Ehrlich, my BS meter burst through the top. Has anything this guy ever predicted ever come about? Seems to be the “Emily LaTella” of Satuirday Night Live: “Oh! Nevermind.”

Paul Erlich. That name sounds familiar.....He said we’d be out of oil by 1980. Said the US would be under 30’ of snow by 1990. He has been wrong about everything the gov’t paid him and his school(s) to study. If you can find it, read “ECO-SCAM.”

This idiot Paul Ehrlich wrote a book, The Population Bomb, in 1968 when I was in college. He warned of the mass starvation of humans in the 1970s and 1980s due to overpopulation, as well as other major societal upheavals, and advocated immediate action to limit population growth.
Somehow I managed to gain weight during this period of mass human starvation. The book has been criticized for its alarmist tone, and in recent decades, for its inaccurate predictions. Gee, ya think?

Apparently, he is at it again. Another progressive alarmist, trying to stir up the need to kill capitalism and impose socialism on the world.

The last mass extinction actually began when early humans discovered how to make spear points and roast meat. It was aided by the end of the last ice age.

When will Erlich be extinct? There are publishing houses that still print his BS? So he has been 100% wrong since he started writing this BS and yet he gets published is on Drudge report, Rush is talking about him, but Romney was bad because he cut off a boys pony tail when he was 17 years old!
And Governor Walker is bad because he did not graduate from college!

“Atheist BS.”

Atheist/socialist, excuses to “reduce” human population so the one world government controlled by the elites will survive. The Elites will live in comfort and splendor served by the masses.
