Another killer who has severe mental illness. Where are the doctors, law enforcement, parents, etc. who come in contact with these obviously sick people - why don’t they get them treatment?

In a word, Congress. Adults can only be involuntarily committed for a brief period of time. At least until they do something really bad. And HIPAA locks-out family members from being involved or even fully aware of their diagnosis.

Damn good question as some here recall folks being ordered to check into a state institution. I seem to recall Virginia still did that in the early 60’s?
