Jeff Kuhner who sits in for Michael Savage today told his audience....
* His ratings (worldwide over the web and local) are through the moon.
* His parent station will move him to 12 to 3 time-slot sometime after 7/4.
* Syndication to follow in a few months.
* This puts him in Rush's time-slot of which he alluded he would compliment him ( my words ).
AM Drive and PM Drive are the most
important dayparts,so a move to noon
is a demotion. He did say morning
drive syndicated shows are rare
so a move to noon helps him. He
figures stations would rather take
his show than Rush.
WRKO has been planning a morning
drive show with Kim Carrigan in
association with boston.com aka
the Boston Globe. Rush being dropped
because he cost them over a million
per year in fees and barter costs.
On June 29 WKOX 1430 will pick
up Rush,Hannity,Beck and Levin,
Who knows maybe he can pick
up affiliates.
Most significantly, Kuhner won’t cost WRKO $500K a year up front.
Rumors are that Rush’s Cleveland station is about to drop him for the same reason. He is going to have to rethink his business model.
Kuhner is really, really good. He is even smart enough to usually agree with ME. I’ll will miss him quite a bit.
However, I’m just waiting for the LEFTIES to start trumpeting that “Limbaugh kicked out of Boston!!”
That will even put Ms. Jenner off the airwaves.
Many iHeart talk stations are
obligated to run Rush at noon
(In Boston the new AM 1430 is
owned by them).This includes
920 in Prov, 95.1 Cape Cod, 580
and 94.9 Worc., and 610 Manch NH
so syndie Kuhner may not happen
there (maybe a competing station
like 1370 in Manch or 830 in
Worc could try).Rush’s contract
with iHeart-Premiere ends next yr..
would he retire or sign elsewhere?
Kuhner may see opportunity in this.
Rush Limbaugh, done in by Capitalism.
Irony: The Mark of Quality Literature
iHeart ensuring Rush will still be
heard here by launching new talk
station on 1430 (currently Spanish)
tho with less power.
They dropped the last hour of Glenn Beck a while ago and replaced it with some painfully bad investment/insurance show.
RKO has been going down for some time. I hope WKOX will come in up here in the North country
Probably not;not sure where you
are but they are 5,000 watts day
and directional 1,000 watts night.
Go to radio-locator.com and type
WKOX into search to see
kuhner-ink ping
Kuhner said he would COMPLEMENT Rush.
You said he would compliment Rush.
I truly enjoy Jeff Kuhner — both his passion and intellect.
Their are a ton of mom and pop's still out their that can't afford Rush.
Jeff Kuhner is good, dang good, and IMHO would give Rush a run for his money in markets where you can get them both on your dial. nNot that it would be his game given what he said. The only other guy worth listening too in that slot is Dennis Prager, but he is more culture sometimes than hard politics so I consider him more niche player.
thanks for the spell check, I was in a real rush to get this posted...
WRKO is either financed by a group that has very little interest in making money or have an agenda that blinds them from reality. To drop the most popular and controversial hosts in America (Limbaugh and Levin) and also replace the morning host, Jeff Kuhner, with a has-been TV anchor (Kim Kerrigan) and a sports loser reading the news, is suicide. Then they put Jeff Kuhner on at noon to compete with Limbaugh, promising Kuhner that he may go national. This may be suicide for Kuhner as well. I think they blunted his career. You can’t beat Limbaugh. I have gone to the internet to continue to listen to Limbaugh. And I liked Kuhner! They even replaced Mark Levin with a guy who has helped me understand how to buy and finance a house (Dave Ramsey). Is this stupidity, or is there more going on. Not generally a conspiracist, I find this, nonetheless, very suspicious, especially when an election is coming and these voices are very powerful and influential. The media today is not to be trusted. It’s time to wake up America!!
