Chris Evans has signed a three-year deal to replace Jeremy Clarkson as the presenter of Top Gear, the BBC says.
The broadcaster decided not to renew Clarkson's contract in March after it emerged he attacked a producer on the programme at a hotel in North Yorkshire.
Evans will lead an all new line-up, the BBC said.

This will fail miserably.
Evan's only real claim to fame, besides being a morning host, is that he was once married to Dr. Who's Billie Piper.
We’ll always have re-runs. I found Clarkson’s personality to be a perfect fit for that show. He loves cars, and he loves his country, if not his government’s interferences. The show where they accumulated all the motor-powered vehicles made in Great Britain was sobering, and awe-inspiring. Fantastic tribute to those who produced them.
Gak! I can’t stand him.
Clarkson, Hammond and May were the only things that made this show worth watching.
Premiering the new convertible Jaguar. It will hold all your friends, I hear you can get 8 in the front seat.
Flop Gear is right. Clarkson made the show. Hammond and Capt. Slow were perfect foils for him but Clarkson made the show - naturally funny man.
Looks like they are ALL going to Netflix!
So what happens to the high-octane trio after “Top Gear?”
Last week, reports out of the UK indicated that the troika are headed for Netflix.
According to the Daily Mirror’s Nigel Pauley, a source claims the team was “very close” to a deal with Netflix.
The source also told the publication that Hammond and May will reject the BBC’s reported $7.1-million offer to return to the show.
Sources claim that the BBC’s offer would have paid the duo each as much $1.2 million to $1.8 million a year to host “Top Gear” for another two or three series, the Daily Mail’s Jennifer Newton reported last week.
According to the Daily Mirror, the hosts made it clear that “no amount of money could persuade them to return to the BBC2 show without Clarkson.”
Ratings? Plummeting!
Evans has been on top gear and is a car guy but I really don’t see anyone replacing Clarkson.
All good things must end and that included Top Gear. I still have not seen all the old ones so I watch them.
There are a ton of car shows. Clarkson and company kept me coming back. Hell, even my wife liked that show.
The lack of PC is what made it popular.
Jerry Seinfeld hit the nail perfectly on the head.
I take it we’re not talking about the Captain America Chris Evans.
Chris Evan s big star in a reasonably priced car.

I was hoping Clarkson would be the next Bond...
Clarkston or NOTHING.
Both my boys love the show. I like it, too.
So..... it's not THIS Chris Evans........
Om state-run television, that doesn't matter very much.
Clarkson is a ‘NON-PC’ man’s man, a quality NOT ALLOWED on American TV. Without Clarkson there is no Top Gear. BBC is an utter failure now. They had a GREAT show and have destroyed it big time. Not to marginalize Hammond or May but there is NO show without Jeremy Clarkson!
I hear Piers Morgan is available - as long as they’re going to tank the show, they might as well go all the way.
