Ex-NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal: 'I identify as black'

(CNN)Rachel Dolezal -- fresh off of stepping down as head of the Spokane NAACP chapter over criticism that she's portrayed herself as black, even though she was born white -- stood by that self-assessment Tuesday, insisting, "I identify as black."

Dolezal did not deny her parents are white, that she was born white, or that she has changed how she looks at herself over the years in an interview on NBC's "Today" show. And she admitted not having corrected various published reports over the years labeling her as transracial, biracial and black.

At the same time, Dolezal -- while admitting she might have conducted some interviews differently -- insisted she'd do the same thing again overall when it comes to how she has portrayed herself racially.

"My life has been one of survival," she said. "And the decisions that I have made along the way have been to survive and to carry forward in my journey and life continuum."

She found that the best way to get special favors and and have an easier life was to be black.
So what is the excuse now for black Americans not having a fair shot at success?

My cousin had a discussion with one of his son’s college classmates recently about Jenner. Subject came up and he said: I think HE has lost it. Kid said, you mean SHE right and added SHE was just misscast in a male body. My cousin asked: did you ever consider HE has a mental illness, nothing more? Kid was dumbfounded. This points to a few things the most prominent is our youth have been so completely brain washed as to be beyond repair. As the comic Popeye used to say: I yam what I yam. That holds for
Popeye and for any of these pyschos saying they are trapped in another sex’s body.

And if she had stated it this way in the beginning, she wouldn’t be in as much trouble. Instead she claimed to BE black, which is a lie.

The post-hoc claim is rationalization, and likely another lie. She identifies as a social warrior who knows she can benefit from claiming to be black.

Why can’t people choose to be black is it means getting a scholarship or filling a nice affirmative action job?

I just watched the interview on the Today show with Matt Lauer, which was pretty decent. He asked some good questions. My observations: She is a master at re-framing, spinning, and diverting the facts. She has no shame. There was a tremendous amount of BS. But she was slick and confident. And I think a lot of Today Show viewers will accept the spin.

Prediction: When the smoke clears, I think she will come out on top. We have all seen the parallels with Bruce Jenner. She will be hailed as someone who is a trendsetter for transracial identity. She will be on magazine covers. She will write a book. They will make a movie about her. She is already lined up to appear on a host of talk shows. If she doesn't already have an agent to promote her, she will by the end of the week.
