I had a long wait in the grocery checkout today because of a computer problem. I looked at things I rarely buy: a small bag of chips, a pack of gum, a candy bar, a can of soda. I flashed back to the same items and how much they cost when I worked in retail almost thirty years ago (I remember because we didn't have bar codes then and had to punch the price in over and over). The products have been reduced by two-thirds in amount and the price has tripled. Horrifying.
