Baltimore tourism industry tries to put riots in rear view mirror (Good luck with that!)
CNBC ^

In the wake of months of unrest and a record month of murders, Baltimore may be a tough sell to potential vacationers as a destination for care-free summer fun.

That won't stop hotels, restaurants, attractions and city officials in Charm City, who insist they are up for the challenge.

For Baltimore's economy, the stakes are high. About 80,000 local jobs are dependent on the tourism industry, and close to 24 million tourists visited the city and spent $5.15 billion in 2013, a 2.2 percent increase in visitor spending over the year before.

My original comment wasnt to you, you pulled my string , so you get what you get.

You can try a zinger if you want but I dont think you know enough about me or it to make it worth your while. Being a Kansan, I probably wouldn’t take offense anyway.

Who went on vacation in Baltimore before the riots? Why?

Only experience with Baltimore is from so old TDYs that took me to the area. Made a ball game and toured the old ships which was interesting. The Inner Harbor was about the only area that seemed worth checking out. The rest was a slum even 25 years ago.

NYC has a harbor so it's entirely plausible.

I’d rather visit Zimbabwe.

Hey! That could be Baltimore's new nickname: "Zimbabwe on the Chesapeake"

I like it. They can make it part of their tourism campaign. The locals can promote the theme with necktie parties for tourists.
