“...where do we go from here?”
Hmm...why not ask Gov.Sarah Palin? Things look FUBAR and she said she would think later over whether to run.
Self government means no secret laws passed in the middle of the night and NO preferential treatment of other nations over U.S. citizens. If smaller, more controllable government is our aim, and I am assuming both of you want to see those goals met, she must be in this nation’s future.
Anything Obama negotiates will have to be approved by the congress.
This only gives him the power to negotiate.
Cruz as usual is right.
Everyone needs to calm the hell down.
In labor contracts negotiations are done in private but the final contract is voted up or down. If you vote yes you’ve nothing to complain about. Shouldn’t trade agreements be the same. Let us read the contract and any and all side agreements.
I don't begrudge anyone their stance on trade, but this secrecy argument can't be taken seriously by anyone who has ever negotiated anything.
Power to negotiate? What good is that when a simple majority can pass it.
We have been here before. Explain the necessity for all the secrecy.
This guy is acting like this is business-as-usual and American hasn’t already been screwed, spat on, and irreparably damaged by Obama’s 1st major “secret”healthcare bill.
As my wise father used to say,
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me!
Poor widdle fascist billionaires are upset that real Americans are sick of being screwed by these so called free trade agreements. We’ve come out on the short end with every agreement signed since Nixon played kissy face with the red Chinese.
Yes, and how hard is it to find 51 corrupt anti American Senators? These sweeping agreements need to be held to the same ratifying standard as a treaty is. The idea that Americans get a say under fast track is a bald faced lie.
DU?
So you’re saying I’m a leftist?
No, I'm saying that the "my way or the highway" whiners did more to get Obama elected for a second term than the DU did. Are you one of them?
If I were a “perfectionist” which is what I think you mean here, why would I be sticking by Ted Cruz when so many here are “disappointed” about his trade and H1-B visa stances?
And yes, I voted for McCain/Palin and Romney/Ryan, even though three out of four of those individuals didn’t belong on the tickets.
Anyone that tells me to ‘shut up’ can ESAD.
The commenters at USA Today don’t like the article either.
We have a government that can’t be trusted, and now someone is telling us to let them do another law in secret.
Anyone that tells me to shut up can ESAD.
+1
FR gets obnoxiously partisan every election cycle, but the comments about how people questioning St. Cruz are: 1. imbecilic, 2. the same as voting for a communist, or 3. so outrageous because everyone else running for president is equally wrong about this issue, are REPELLANT.
Frankly, I liked Cruz (not to the point of refusing to give a good hard look at this particular situation), and might like him again, but the insistence that I am a bad girl for even questioning his bona fides is offensive and juvenile. So, if I think that “behind closed door negotiations” are untouchable by the masses, and I ought to “keep my mouth shut” like a good serf, they can ESAD! What a freaking turn off!!!!
I’m sticking by Ted, too (I gave him a hundred bucks last week).
I still like Cruz. He may be wrong about TPA; he may be right. I dunno, I’m just a teddy bear with fluff for brains.
Oh, BTW, you *are* a bad girl.
A *very* bad girl.
Who wears boots and has a riding crop.
