If you want to tell me that the TPP is not a treaty but rather a benevolent trade pact...

Now that's a problem right there. The TPP is an agreement between nations. It is a treaty, period. And so it requires a 2/3 majority in the Senate for passage.

The folks who try to push it as a trade pact, or an agreement, or a whatever are doing an end run around the Constitution. It really bothers me that Cruz and the rest of them are silent about this aspect.

Treaties do not require 2/3 anymore. The senate voted that power away this spring.

The US is party to at least 5,000 ‘agreements between nations’ that are not treaties.
