Ted Cruz is a sellout. I can understand your need to rationalize and stick your head in the sand, it hurts when your icons turn on you. But you should ask yourself now: am I a lemming or a man. You've been on FR for 15 minutes and already you are a ZOT.
Patton the original and Patton of FR are both men, you are neither lemming nor man, you are a pussycat.

I listened to the Hewitt interview and all I heard, pertaining to TPA was bs. I believe Sen. Sessions that TPA doesn’t weaken Obama’s hand like Cruz lies about but strengthens it.

Pilgrim ... at least try to get your facts straight ...
I've been here since 1998 ... actually since 1996, while you were still in diapers (your 2004 sign-up) ...
BTW ... thanks for your service on the USS Alaska ... a damn fine boat indeed ...

Does the United States give up Sovereignty by entering into TPP?
No. Nothing in the agreement forces Congress to change any law. TPA explicitly provides that nothing in any trade agreement can change U.S. law. Congress is the only entity that can make U.S. law, and Congress is the only entity that can change U.S. law. Nothing about TPP or TPA could change that.
Really? How can the writer know this as...
There is no final language on TPP because negotiations are still ongoing and have been since late 2009.
Is "faith" in this writer's assertions all I'm supposed to have?
More questions.

what i don’t understand is why, if this legislation is so good for America, that there is so much secrecy involved and a rush to passage? it smells like the stealth passage of Obamacare. once it becomes law, then we will learn what WE have given up. and can we trust this president to not interpret its passage as Congress giving him the green light to do whatever he pleases regardless of how the law is written?

Congress is the only entity that can make U.S. law, and Congress is the only entity that can change U.S. law. That's some fine parsing of words there too. I see "regulations", which is what is really crippling America, are not mentioned.

We "all" here agree that the "secret" STINKS ...
Ted Cruz agrees as well ...
Don't let the Rand Paul folks LIE to you and tell you otherwise ...
Ted Cruz WILL NOTE VOTE FOR A SECRET TPP Agreement.
Period.
I (gently) challenge anyone to provide a "written quote" evidence where Ted Cruz says he will vote for a secret TPP agreement ...
You "will not" find it.
Cowboy up, or go home ... Guys ...

I do have to apologize for my earlier post criticizing Cruz. I wrote that before I saw the Photoshopped image of Cruz and Reagan together in front of an America flag. Im such an inbred moron that as soon as I saw that picture I knew that anything Ted Cruz thinks is right for America must be just fine! LOL! The only thing missing from the picture were unicorns, bald eagles, and perhaps bacon. Some bacon would have sealed the deal for me. Everything is better with bacon!

Ted Cruz is a sell out.
TPA passed thanks to HIM.
It will NOT be forgotten.
EVER.
Hope his wife made a lot of $$$$$$$$$$ off it
because he is now damaged as a candidate,
and many of those who supported him, no longer care.

“I (gently) challenge anyone to provide a “written quote” evidence where Ted Cruz says he will vote for a secret TPP agreement ... “
No, Ted is supporting the TPA which cedes the treaty authority of Congress to Obama and makes the passage of the TPP inevitable. Cruz can vote against the actual TPP and claim he’s against it, this won’t matter after TPA is enacted. This is the exact same scam Cruz exposed with the Obamacare cloture issue.
If you want to tell me that the TPP is not a treaty but rather a benevolent trade pact that will benefit American workers then let me read the damn thing.

We have been conducting trade negotiations since 1790, why do we need to change how we conduct these negotiations now while under the rule of an autocratic despot? I see nothing to be gained by going along with any of this, perhaps except the authority to conduct negotiations as most Presidents have had in recent memory. The rest of the stuff, no way...I don't want our rules given away to any international anti US body, period.

Ted Cruz May 2015:
Sen. Cruz. I am a strong supporter of free trade, but I cannot support legislation that would allow the President to once again circumvent Congress to enact his own immigration laws.
Ted Cruz in June 2015:
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argued Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) is not giving the president more authority and that Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is not accurate in some of his claims regarding the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) on Fridays broadcast of The Kuhner Report on Bostons WRKO.

If enacted, TPA-2015 will expire on July 1, 2021, pr ovided an extension disapproval resolution is not introduced and passed by either chamber by July 1, 2018 (see below). TPA-2015 may be used to consider potential agreements resulting from several ongoing negotiations, including The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a regional FTA the United States is negotiating with 11 partner countries in the Asia-Pacific.
The Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) being negotiated with the European Union (EU).
A Trade in Services Agreement (TISA), a plurilateral trade negotiation to seek expanded commitments in services trade.
An Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA), a plurilateral agreement being negotiated at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to reduce or eliminate tariff and nontariff barriers on goods to promote the environment.
It may also be used to consider any agreement resulting from the Doha Round of WTO multilateral trade negotiations.
Nobody looks to the future.
