“All politicians have a conflict of interest. Sleeping with a managing partner of Goldman Sachs is a conflict of interest by Ted.”
Yeah. I haven’t wanted to go there, but that his wife works for goldman is a fact. I still don’t want to go there. No reason to.
Ted Cruz has probably already scuttled whatever chance he had at the nomination. He’s running number 6 in the polls. He’s spinning this issue a great deal, which would tell any reasonably astute observer that there is a reason for that. He’s probably watching his internals and fundraising take a nosedive. Why vote for Jeb’s ideological twin on immigration and trade when the real mccoy is running?
I’ll wait for the withdrawal announcement, but I believe Ted will go back to being being a backbencher in the senate soon enough.
Sad though he had promise. I remember when he was filibustering and saying that we were looking at a future president.
The Trade issue has been terribly confused and he might have managed it if he had gotten the message on it out soon enough and clearly enough.
I don’t like TPA in the first place because it circumvents the 2/3 vote necessary for treaties and indeed fast tracks the agreements with a simple 51% majority as I understand it. I can see the point that the up / down vote is necessary because the things might never get out of congress. If they are good for the country then a up / down vote should be fine.
I really don’t care that we have had TPA for 80 years or not. It got us too many crummy things like NAFTA. Dingy Harry voted it out for some reason.
