You are buying the lie that TPA gives more power to congress. It gives less power to congress and more to the executive branch. Why do you think Obama is for it? Congress will be able to vote but not filibuster. They won’t be able to amend it. Just up or down simple majority votes allowed. Congress is WAY too evenly divided to take that risk. Obama is the Power Usurper-In-Chief. Republicans have way too many benedict arnolds in their numbers to put too much faith in that. Have we learned nothing?

Don’t you think it would be a good thing to start a Benedict Arnold List on FR?

And you're falling for oldest trick in the book in politics. Obama supports TPA, to make it toxic for anyone on the Right to support it. That gets the measure killed. Obama's supporting it falsely, to create the very divide on the Right that is happening now.

You say you don't trust Congress? Yeah you just trusted them to kill the bill. So you trusted them somehow. Pelosi, Reid, Schumer. All those radicals. You just trusted them. Without TPA now, we won't ever see what is in TPP.

TPA is a transparency bill. The TPA is a regular domestic law applied to foreign trade deals. The president does not have to make any trade deal public. And Congress cannot make a trade deal public if the president objects. Congress can change that rule. And that is what TPA attempts to do. And Constitutionally speaking (read it), a filibuster is not allowed on trade deals and treaties.

But you obviously didn't hear Ted's interview. Its not giving him more power. Congress can still reject it and revoke fast track if they don't want the bill. The vote does lower down, but it also brings in the House to vote as well. Ted explains exactly why and where the Constitution dictates this. The House should have a say when revenue generation is involved, and tariffs are just that. This lowers the Senate vote but includes the House of Representatives. That actually is bringing more input. The House represents the people's voice.

What the TPA debate shows us
