Sen. Ted Cruz on the Hugh Hewitt Show, June 11, 2015.
For those interested in Sen. Cruz, this interview debunks recent MSM reports that he's conceding the 1st three primary states. He explains his positions on free trade, ISIS, Turkey, and defense.
> “The legislation is secret. They signed an agreement not to tell us.”
Your above statement shows you did not do your homework.
TPA is NOT secret.
TPP is secret.
See post #99 for more detail.
Well where can I read the text of it?
Why is Jeff Sessions warning me about it?
Why is Paul Ryan telling me I can find out what’s in it when they pass it?
I really don’t get it.
...”It appears Ted has gone D.C. on us”....
Either we’re trusting God or man in this election because the storms are going to rock and roll on this one...right now they’re trying to sink Cruz and Walker.....we all need to stay in the boat.
Cruz knows he can vote against TPP in the future. However he might know it won’t matter when he does because others will make sure it passes. He can say then he carries no blame.
Paul and Ryan have skin in this ...that’s why they’re saying what they are.
Because they (Sessions, Ryan and others) are referring to TPP which is separate and different from TPA.
TPP is secret.
TPA is NOT secret.
Here’s text of TPA:

If you had any class you would thank me because I really don’t like being somebody’s gopher. You are more than capable of finding legislature on your own.
I’ll still bank on Cruz because he’s playing this game for keeps.....I know how he works and to give him room...therefore I will remain as a Cruz supporter.....til the end.
I want him to slide about as he runs...it stirs up the opposition and they get revealed for what they are, as well as positions him better for other voters he will need.
This is all about taking Cruz and Walker out and the Demorats love it when we slaughter our own for them.
Come on, man.
There is no need to attack me personally. I haven’t done that to you.
And I do have class, so thank you for finding that for me.
I will read it.
They aren’t making this easy to follow. I never claimed to be the smartest guy in the world.
I can’t keep track of all their TxXxXXXXXxxx whatever, it’s really confusing and annoying.
Maybe they shouldn’t make classified legislation so stupid people like myself, that can vote, can have an easier time understanding this garbage.
I understand that, and I heard Cruz’s answers regarding these things in the town hall meeting.
So it is clear to me at this time that Ted Cruz has not voted yes on a secret bill, but that he voted yes on a bill whose text is available to read, and that is actually really good news.
So I appreciate you clearing this up for me a great deal.
Thank you, sincerely.
HE’s way ahead of that thinking...we simply have to catch up to where he really is.
WHEN IS HE GOING TO GO ON THE MARK LEVIN SHOW?
Sometimes you just let things play out til you do know the facts.....
Cruz and Walker are targets right now for the Demorats....and some of the candidates running to knock them out...just be wise first.... Wait til some of the dust settles.
Good to hear that from you.
The reason I challenged you is because I needed others to see you step up and act civilly so that they can know this is a learning and understanding process and that there’s a lot of confusion out there.
The thing about FR to understand is this forum is a big deal, even more so than the Drudge Report because leftists use it as their ‘test laboratory’ on how they can screw around with conservatives. They’ve had a field day on the trade issue and they also like to throw themselves into confusing Conservatives on H1B.
The internet is a frontline for propaganda campaigns and we are witnessing the tactics used by hard core leftists right here everyday on FR. Yes it’s true, FR is swimming with paid trolls and hacks, some coming from ISPs originating from White House offices. Some of them profess hatred for the GOPe along with many of us like yours truly and they have FR profile pages created in the last 2 years that are spotted all over with Conservative labels, icons and quotes; one would think they are conservative but they are not.
To get a view on the real person that is Ted Cruz listen to this Kuhner sponsored May 30 NH Town Hall:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sznh5AjageI
Three of my favorite parts (and there are so many) start at times 52:00, 57:50 and 1:12:40 (especially this last one).
As for Senator Jeff Sessions, he’s one of our finest and most courageous Conservatives. He and Ted Cruz work as a tag team and get along very very well. They are not diametrically opposed. But they are standing on different battlefields. Ted Cruz is running for President and he wants TPA not for ‘Obamatrade’ but for ‘Cruztrade’ which are completely different from each other. Senator Jeff wants to stop Obama and his socialist agenda as does Cruz. Now both of these fine Conservatives are in the short term creating confusion but long term as people like you and me sort it out and get a handle on the guts of the issues we are going to be made stronger to withstand the hard core onslaught of propaganda that seeks to divide and weaken us.
Keep learning and showing what you’re learning so that others that are confused will get some light and get clear on how the left is trying to play Conservatives. That’s the key, don’t allow people to get played by the left.
You are wrong. The TPA fast track that Cruz voted for gives Obama authority to finish negotiating the TPP in secrecy (FACT)
If the TPP is so great why would Obama and Cruz be fine with hiding it and threatening anybody who has read it if they dare disclose what is in it?
The TPA also only requires a simple majority vote in the House and Senate. The TPA that Cruz voted for gives away the Senates right to a 60-vote cloture. (FACT)
The TPA that Cruz voted for also says that no member of congress can offer any Amendments to change the TPP that Obama negotiates (FACT)
Saying its not law yet because the House has not approved it has nothing to do with the fact that Cruz voted for it showing exactly how treacherous he is.
And skirting law by calling it an Agreement between nations rather than a Treaty is also low class.
The secret TPP which Cruz has read and wont tell us about is reportedly being kept secret because it covers FAR MORE than trade. It also creates international boards of review and opens borders for uncontrolled travel and immigration. That is far more than an Agreement.
If there was nothing wrong with the TPP Obama and his buddy Ted Cruz would not be hiding things from us.
Again, I dont care what Cruz says. I judge him by his actions, especially when it really counts.
Cruz cannot be trusted so it is time we all move on and find someone who is not a fraud.
I guess it was at least nice of Cruz to show up though. He has one of the lowest vote attendance rates in the Senate. He reminds me so much of Senator Present now in the Oval Office.
Please skim over post #114 and its precedents which I think illustrate the turnaround needed in these battles. chris37 has shown a lot of class and humility which are the ingredients for everyone becoming wiser.
LOL,,,95% of his base have left, huh? You have proof of this because polling on the ground, the fact he is expanding the map and fundraising tells me otherwise.
You know you are a troll when you say Cruz isn’t a Conservative. See, unlike you, and people like you, I judge a candidate by his/her body of work. Cruz is as solid as they come and one vote won’t change that.
So, tell me, who do you support?
For clarification, the ‘class and humility’ remark was not directed at you both but for those reading and learning. Both of you have shown remarkable wisdom and need not be lectured to about needing any qualities to maintain the wisdom you’re shown.
Thanks for all of the info and research you provide. EVERYONE needs to do their own reading, calling, research, etc.
Well, I can’t see any reason for anyone to behave uncivilly on this. Personally, I am angry over classified legislation being used as a tactic within our government. I didn’t like it with Obamacare, or with Net Neutrality, and I do not like it with TPP, although I understand that it will become declassified before being voted on, so that is at least something.
The reason that I want to vote for ted Cruz to be president is because he is an honest man, and I think that is a really rare quality. However, if he were to, for example, vote for legislation that is secret to become law, I would have a serious problem with that, but that example does not appear to be the actual case here.
He voted for TPA because he believes in free trade. I can understand that vote. Others, such as Mark Levin, would prefer that Obama not be empowered at all, and I can understand that too, but in and of itself I cannot see where Ted supporting TPA is reason enough to not support his bid for president.
And the reason that I think that way is because if in fact all presidents have had this power, and this power is given to Obama which he then consequently abuses, then the fault is with Obama and not Ted Cruz.
I don’t think that entrusting a person with power, and then that person abusing that power should result in the person entrusting being blamed for the abuse by the person wielding that power.
Similarly, I notice that people are saying because TPA may be passed that TPP will then be rubber stamped because no trade bill has ever been voted down by congress.
If TPA is passed, and then the text of TPP is declassified, and it turns out to be a very bad bill, which then is voted on by congress and becomes law, then at such time those people who voted to pass a very bad bill can and should be held accountable.
I think to hold someone accountable in advance for something that has not yet occurred is foolish and unfair. TPP votes should be judged at the proper time, which is not now.
I want to be careful, I don’t want to lose a good candidate over faulty reasoning. This is a complicated issue mixed with high emotion, at least with me, because I just hate this secret legislation nonsense. It is definitely an anger trigger for me, but misdirecting anger is never constructive.
And yeah, I did get to listen to those Ted Cruz answers around 52 minutes in that town hall meeting, and they satisfied me. Cruz is a well spoken individual who answered honestly, I believe, and did not attempt to duck those questions.
I still think ted Cruz is an honest man, which is the base foundation of why I support him, so I can still say that I support him, which makes me feel a lot better, because last night I was about to have no horse in a really important race, and that was not a good feeling.
