California water wasters beware: #DroughtShaming on the rise

Pssst. Ready to water that beautiful lush lawn of yours? The one that’s the envy of the entire neighborhood.

If you live in Southern California you’d better wait until after midnight. Preferably on a cloudy, new-moon night during a power outage when it’s so dark even night-vision goggles won’t give away your position. Otherwise you could wind up the star of the latest drought-shaming video posted on YouTube or Twitter.

“Yeah, I put your address out there. The world is watching a lot more,” says Tony Corcoran, one of several people who spend their spare time these days canvassing the tony communities of Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and elsewhere, looking for people wasting water during the worst California drought in recent memory. Corcoran alone estimates he’s put more than 100 videos of water-wasters, complete with their addresses, up on YouTube.

Others tweet out addresses and photos of water scofflaws on Twitter, using hashtags such as #DroughtShaming. Still others are snapping smartphone photos of them and sending them directly to authorities.

Not everyone is happy about it. …

I love this. The faster liberals turn on each other the better. It will make California easier to quarentine.

“Corcoran, a restaurant group administrator who kept his New York attitude when he came to laid-back Laos Angeles awhile ago, is unrepentant.” So, there is a “New York attitude”, which is obnoxious, rude, proud, self-righteous, and know-it-all. When will the next 9/11 will befall this unrepentant city? Like followers of the pedophile, they spread where they are tolerated, likewise spreading the possibility of judgment. Oh, California is already in a drought. Sounds like judgment has already come. Will the governor there humble himself and ask for a statewide day of prayer, fasting, and repentance? Don’t count on it.

I agree. This kind of social cannibalism couldn’t happen to a more deserving population. I’d want them to start shooting each other, but you KNOW, with the certainty of an all-over-Baptist, that the media will blame it on gun ownership.

And you may not be incorrect.

Who cares? Let the media go hog wild. They do anyway. Didn’t stop 6 years or more of record gun sales. No one byt an idiot will give them up and idiots shouldn’t have guns anyway.

They will start killing each other because history shows they will as in many societies before. As before, so again. I welcome it. It’s evolution in action and the ‘democracy’ they love so much made real...and will destroy them better than we ever could as it comes from within their own beliefs.

Which is why democracy is such a bad idea as the Founders well knew.

What is “quarentine”?

If you mean “quarantine” then I hope you enjoy
all the yummy food coming from South America.

With farms in Cali being destroyed to save fish I don’t see how we would be getting food from Cali much longer anyway.

Because we can’t grow food anywhere else in the United States.

I look out my window every day and across the River sits Needles CA. Thats the only reminder I need as to what ‘good’ California does in the world. I guess some there are too brainwashed to leave that state. Oh well. To each their own.

Well, now that is a nice bit of hyperbole.
I travel I-5 fairly frequently and I can
assure you that California will lead the
nation in agriculture for some time to
come, smelt notwithstanding.

People who live on either side of the river
in that neck of the (non) woods generally have
no brains to wash.

If you don’t care about variety in your diet
then I invite you to boycott California ag
products all grown by those far left whacko
Californians.

Yea thats why we live in free states by comparison. We are idiots. Funny that we in the harshest part of the Mojave aren’t in a water crisis. I wonder why.

Have fun paying for the all new choo choo poo poo.

I’d love to buy fresh Cal produce except the one store in Needles that sold them closed and left due to your taxes. So since I can’t, I’ll take whatever. It’s food.

Since Needles has no grocery store anymore they come here to shop so I guess they don’t much care either.

I’d also point out that a few years back when Needles’ gas prices were over $6 a gallon, some members of the local govt there actually tried fining people for gassing up in AZ and taking non taxed gas into the state.

And WE don’t have brains to wash? HAHAHAHAH!!!!!

Are you just waiting there to turn out the lights? I agree on one thing though, there is no doubt we are all going down together. California might be leading in some ways looking at San Francisco and Hollyweird, but the bulk of the rest of America watches and copies.
