A provision seeks to bar the president from using trade to act on climate.
If House Republicans get their way, president Obama won't be able to use any trade pact to strike a deal on climate change.
Late Tuesday evening, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin offered up an amendment to a customs bill that would "ensure that trade agreements do not require changes to U.S. law or obligate the United States with respect to global warming or climate change."
The customs bill is intended to amend so-called "fast-track" trade legislation that could see a House vote as early as this Friday. "Fast-track" would allow Congress an up-or-down vote on any trade deals negotiated by the White House.

Again if it's so great, then why hide it? Did the Republicans forget "you have to pass it to find out what is in it" Obamacare scam?
The Republican Senate, a week or so ago, passed the TPA which gives Obama the "Fast Track" authority he needs in order to pass the TPP other scams.
So now the desperate GOPe is trying to sell their followers this steaming pile of $hit by saying Paul Ryan is now adding a provision to bar the president from using trade to act on climate.
NEWS FLASH... The congress can already do that now without this "provision" rubbish. That provision is a Trojan horse to make Republicans think they are safe from a carbon tax. It will not stop it.
Bottom line this is the GOPe trying to bamboozle it's supporters once again.
How about an amendment to block scamnesty provisions? Or an amendment to block gun grabbing provisions?
Better yet, how about withdrawing the damn bill in the best interest of the United States and its citizens?
Ryan has become pure scum.
Anything the Uniparty wants this bad cannot be good for the citizens.
RINO alert.
Exactly and excellent point!
Agree
AGree.
Amen!
Ryan knows this is a poison pill for a BUNCH of Democrats...hell, Obama just announced it was of his major tools in the battle on Climate Change.
SO this tells us that the House #1 advocate for TPA/TPP wants to torpedo this deal (doesn't have the votes) in a way that casts blame on DEMOCRATS.
These are some filthy ba$tards folks.
But we won.
You heard it here first.
Why is the GOP not reading the bill on the floor?
I hope you are right.
...HELP needed...thanks...
true or false?
the TPP has some kind of ‘rules change’ in Congress.
when delivered to Congress.
Congress has ?60 days, to pass some kind of a
‘NO’ vote, or TPP becomes law?
I don’t know?
It’s a secret. So that part is not clear.
I think it by passes U.S. law and gives it to an international court.
to be clear...
any ‘rules change’ making TPP ‘automatic’
would have to be in the ‘fast tract authority’
does anyone know?
thanks in advance
‘...that congress expects the President to abide by,’ Anyone say tooypthless?
The TPP international commission can override any US law, sorry.
NAFTA courts are getting rid of something as harmless of country of origin meat labeling.
Could be true.
